Bangkok, April 2, 2013: Anantara Bophut Resort & Spa Koh Samui will soon be transformed by a THB 170 million (approximately $5.8 million) renovation investment. The luxury retreat will close for seven months between 16th April and 15th November 2013, during which time the majority of room types will be changed and the spaces refurbished, and the majority of resort's facilities upgraded.

Edging beautiful Bophut Beach and just a stroll from delightful Fisherman's Village, Anantara Bophut Resort & Spa Koh Samui is designed with southern Thai architecture embracing a picturesque lily pond garden.

Of the total 106 guest rooms, the existing six room and suite types will be increased to eight. The two new Deluxe room categories (Deluxe Garden View and Deluxe Sea View) will be expanded from 32 to 36 square metres and after the renovation guests will have the new option of requesting an extra bed in either Deluxe room category. The existing three suite categories will increase to five, with dimensions ranging from 44 to 80 square metres. The two new suite categories (Garden View Suite and Royal Garden View Suite) will offer significantly more space - 70 and 75 square metres respectively - and the private pool of the two luxurious Anantara Beachfront Pool Suites is being expanded from 1.8 x 2.1 metres to a more generous 3 x 8 metres.

Resort outlets to be renovated comprise High Tide restaurant, Eclipse bar, the Library, lobby and the meeting and event rooms. In fact all public areas will be renovated, with the exception of the award-winning Anantara Spa, the signature Italian Full Moon restaurant, the lily pond garden, shoreline swimming pool and the newly built Kid's Club Baan Ling Noi.

Manish Jha, General Manager of Anantara Bophut Resort & Spa Koh Samui, comments, “Anantara Bophut is renowned for blending island magic with truly Thai charm and signature Anantara style, and this year's extensive renovations are designed to reinforce these hallmarks beautifully. Guests will benefit from a wider choice of luxury accommodation, as well as thoughtfully enhanced restaurant, bar, relaxation and event facilities, culminating in an impressive improvement to the overall guest experience.”

For hundreds of years throughout Thailand, people would leave a jar of water outside their house to provide refreshment and extend a welcome to the passing traveler. Anantara is taken from an ancient Sanskrit word that means 'without end', symbolizing this sharing of water and the heartfelt hospitality that lies at the core of every Anantara experience.

From lush jungles to pristine beaches and legendary deserts to cosmopolitan cities, Anantara currently boasts 21 stunning properties located in Thailand, Bali, China, Vietnam, the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates. This year will see future properties open in Thailand, China, Vietnam and the UAE.
