The Hotel will be Closed from April to July 2013 During the $26 Million Project

Palma de Mallorca - February 27, 2013 - The ClubHotel Riu Gran Canaria is one of the hotels of choice for families in the south of the island thanks to its 24 hour all inclusive service, vast range of activities and a 30,000 square metre pool and garden area. RIU has decided to fully renovate its facilities and open the doors in July to a hotel with a brand new image, which is more fresh and modern, as well as a wider range of services, including a children's pool with water games and also new bars and restaurants.

The ClubHotel Riu Gran Canaria, which enjoys a seafront location in Maspalomas, boasts 639 rooms which will be completely refurbished, in keeping with the style which RIU is rolling out in all its new projects. Key features are the light colours and simple lines which bring brightness to the space. They will be equipped with flat-screen TVs, electronic safes and fully renovated bathrooms.

In terms of dining options, the hotel will introduce many innovative improvements. As well as the buffet restaurant, it will offer three speciality restaurants for evening meals: an Asian option, a grill and a restaurant serving up Canarian delicacies. The lounge bar terrace will be the new meeting point in the hotel with its modern and relaxed design which is reminiscent of the island of Ibiza's "chill out" style. Building is also planned for a pool restaurant and bar with sea views, which will be located next to a spectacular "infinity" pool.

Children will enjoy the new attractions as the kids' pool will include a large pirate ship with games and slides. The "RiuLand" club, with activities suited to different age groups, will offer fun options every day of the week. For adults, RIU also offers "RiuFit", a programme of sporting activities run by specialised trainers, as well as "RiuArt", a fun workshop for developing guests' creativity through different materials and techniques. What's more, the hotel's vast gardens will be home to the new main pool which is to be almost 1000 square metres in size.

The ClubHotel Riu Gran Canaria will also incorporate a new nightclub where entry and drinks are included in the "All Inclusive by RIU" programme. Also on offer will be a wide range of sporting facilities such as the gym, sports pitch and volleyball courts.
