Generator is Redefining the Hostel Experience Across Europe

Raises the Bar on Affordable, Design-inspired Travel with Boutique Hostel Concept

. February 25, 2013

February 25, 2013 - Generator, Europe's fastest growing hostel brand, is redefining the hostel experience across Europe with its innovation and stylish design. Generator's eight properties are located in Berlin, Copenhagen, Dublin, Hamburg, London and Venice, with two new hostels opening in 2013 in Barcelona and Berlin Mitte.

Characterized by their contemporary design, central locations, vibrant atmosphere, inventive offerings, affordable prices and locally-inspired food and beverage menus, each Generator property offers a unique, unexpected departure from the traditional hostel travel experience.

With prime locations set in Europe's hottest cities, each Generator hostel evokes an original sense of place defined by chic, playful design elements and an engaging ambiance that reflects the indigenous culture and surrounding neighborhood.

The Design Agency's Anwar Mekhayech is the design guru behind Generator's new 'boutique hostel' look. Anwar - one of the design teams working with the renowned Soho House - is bringing Generator's urban-inspired design to life with bespoke decor in the public spaces of each hostel. Each property is designed to mirror the local culture, with a nod to global youth culture. Anwar works closely with the local development partners, taking inspiration from the property's neighborhood to develop an authentic but fresh feel throughout the properties. Generator's design-led personality will be an integral part of the look and feel of the new Barcelona property (opening in March 2013), the Berlin Mitte property, (opening in May), as well as the significant upgrades being made to the Venice property, which is set to reopen in June.

Every hostel offers a variety of accommodation options ranging from dorm style (including female-only dorms) and private, en-suite rooms for single travellers or small groups. To further enhance the guest experience, Generator's hostels also feature vibrant bars where guests can enjoy inventive menus and a lively social scene.

Knowing its guests like to combine their city breaks with local events, Generator has also created social spaces in every property that allow local talent - from artists to musicians - to exhibit their work, inspiring guests and enabling them to plug into the city they're visiting. Generator's new calendar of events varies from art installations to live music offered year round.

With music as a defining characteristic of the Generator culture, the brand has also introduced its own “Generator Jukebox” which allows guests to choose the music they want to hear during their stay.

Generator also offers free Wi-Fi, 24-hour security and a welcoming, knowledgeable staff on hand around the clock to provide expert advice and insider tips on exploring the local area.

“Generator's boutique hostel concept aims to offer travellers cutting-edge design at an affordable price in central, urban locations,” said Carl Michel, Executive Chairman of Generator. “Our design-led personality and fresh approach to the hostel experience provides guests with a sociable, authentic and fun place to stay when visiting Europe's most exciting cities.”
