INDIAN WELLS, CA - AugUST 16, 2012 - Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa, formerly Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa, ushers in a new era today following a phase completion of an ongoing multi-million dollar renovation. To coincide with the rebranding as Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa, the award-winning luxury resort also announces the opening of Citrus Marketplace and Cafe, the recently added, upscale gourmet market, featuring freshly prepared light bites and grab-and-go items.

The extensive, multi-million dollar renovation commenced in February 2008, and the completion of Citrus marks another milestone in the exquisite California desert resort's transformation. Imparting a fresh design throughout, the recent renovations to Hyatt Regency Indian Wells include the redesign of the resort's contemporary lobby, the reconcepting and renaming of Lantana Restaurant and lobby bar Agave Sunset, the expansion of the resort's private villas, and the transformation of the 26 luxury Penthouse Suites.

“As a long-standing member of the city of Indian Wells, we are pleased to honor this great community by including the prestigious city in the new name of our resort,” remarked Allan Farwell, general manager of Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa. “With the ongoing renovations and refreshes on property, we strive to continue to provide an unmatched oasis for guests and locals alike to relax, play and indulge in Indian Wells.”

Reinventing Desert Elegance - The original property name of 'Hyatt Grand Champions Resort, Villas and Spa' was based upon the celebrated tennis tournament that occurred on the resort grounds for several years. As the tournament evolved, the location changed to accommodate a larger event. This, coupled with the recent, extensive transformation of the resort provided an opportune time to rename the property as Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort & Spa - a name that highlights the prestigious and exclusive location of Indian Wells.

Citrus Marketplace and Cafe - Hyatt Regency Indian Wells temporarily closed its doors in July of 2012 to begin the groundbreaking of Citrus Marketplace and Cafe. Conveniently located in the resort lobby, Citrus will offer a selection of convenient specialty deli items for guests on the go. Named for the citrus trees that line the property, signature Citrus' food and beverage items include fresh grapefruit, oranges and lemons grown right on the resort grounds. In addition, Citrus will also offer a full service coffee bar, teas, sandwiches, and treats including gourmet chocolate made in-house by the resort's own pastry chef. With its stylish and contemporary design, Citrus will be a casual and inviting destination for guests throughout the day.
