. August 06, 2012

ANDOVER, MA - August 6, 2012 - Phillips Academy today announced the appointment of Waterford Hotel Group to operate the historic Andover Inn. Waterford will assume management of both the 30-room hotel and Samuel's, the Inn's signature restaurant, beginning Sept. 1, 2012.

Built in 1930 and renovated most recently in 2010, the Andover Inn is located about 25 miles north of Boston on the 500-acre campus of Phillips Academy, one of the oldest private secondary schools in the United States.

“Waterford Hotel Group has an exceptional reputation in the hospitality services industry, and we are eager to begin this new partnership,” said Steve Carter, Phillips Academy chief operating and financial officer. “Their portfolio includes management of properties ranging from larger full-service hotels to smaller inns, as well as properties associated with academic institutions, including Gettysburg College and Amherst College. We were most impressed by their team's broad and deep experience and track record of success.”

“We look forward to working with Phillips Academy and the team of dedicated associates at the Andover Inn,” said Robert Winchester, President and COO of Waterford Hotel Group. “The Andover Inn is rich in history and charm, and we are enthusiastic about the future of this important landmark.”

Renovated in 2010, the Andover Inn offers 30 well-appointed guestrooms, three private function rooms, Samuel's restaurant, and beautiful gardens for outdoor seasonal events. A member of the National Register of Historic Inns, the Andover Inn couples the classic elegance of a New England inn with modern amenities, such as wireless internet access, flat screen televisions, and a fitness center. Located on Chapel Avenue, across from the Academy's Addison Gallery of American Art, the Inn provides a perfect venue for weddings, conferences and meetings, special occasions, and business or leisure travel.
