Washington, DC - June 22, 2012 - The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel, located steps from the U.S. Capitol, is proud to announce the completion of a $6 million renovation of its guestrooms and suites. The redesign completely transformed all 343 guestrooms and corridors to feature modern lighting and sleek furnishings, creating an ambiance of timeless, contemporary living. Led by the hotel's original interior designer, Dawson Design Associates , the decor is inspired by The Liaison's location in the heart of Washington, DC, highlighting the prominence of the capital city and its political landscape through bold colors. The result is a sophisticated hot spot for politicians and the like to gather and socialize after a long day of tending to the affairs of our nation, providing guests with a powerful connection to the city as well as an urban hideaway away from prying eyes.

The sleek new guestrooms, highly-texturized with shades of indigo blue, gray, tan, and a dash of red, are masculine in flavor punctuated by brushed-stainless-steel accents. The look is intentionally more subdued and private than that of the lobby, the bar and the restaurant. The rooms feature flat screen TVs, Wi-Fi, iHome docks, modern furnishings, upgraded Affinia bedding and remodeled bathrooms. The hallways have been refurbished with new carpeting, wall decor and lighting to match the new guestroom decor and offer a transition between the buzz downstairs and the privacy upstairs.

“Our goal was to capture the essence and strength of Washington, DC, while complementing the uniquely personal and guest-centric approach to hospitality that the Affinia brand is known for,” said Claudia Eggspuhler, general manager of The Liaison Capitol Hill, an Affinia Hotel. “The renovation reflects our continuous commitment to providing guests with Tender Loving Comfortsm .”

The renovation completes the theme started by Dawson Design in 2008 when it redesigned the lobby to showcase striking six-foot portraits of world leaders, as well as the in-house restaurant, Art and Soul, owned by two-time James Beard-Award winning Chef Art Smith. The design is inspired by “The Liaison himself,” or the DC mover-and-shaker persona, as well as political celebrities, and takes on the many faces of politics.
