Duluth, GA - June 5, 2012 - Pillar Hotels & Resorts is proud to announce that the 132-room Residence Inn Atlanta Gwinnett Place by Marriott in Duluth, GA has undergone a 12-year cyclical renovation as well as additional interior and exterior work.

John Peel, the Project Manager for the Atlanta Residence Inn stated, “We wanted to provide some improvements at the property that would give the sales staff a little extra bite when reaching out to area accounts. This renovation combines upscale style and functionality giving this Residence Inn a strong competitive edge.”

There are many requirements enforced by Marriott to complete a 12-year renovation within the Gatehouse, which include reimaging the front desk, installing study pods, and adding a business center as well as a communal table to the multifunctional lobby. The multifunctional lobby is great for travelers who opt to work outside of their guestrooms or want to maintain a balance between work and relaxation while on the road.

The following renovations took place, throughout the entire hotel: window treatments were replaced, new artwork and decorative mirrors were added, walls were repainted, wall vinyl and new carpet were installed, kitchen flooring and soft seating were replaced, and guestrooms had 32”-37” Panasonic HD televisions installed.

Although not required in a 12-year renovation for a Residence Inn, Pillar installed new 6ft. tall headboards to each guestroom. “The scope does not call for replacement of casegoods and overall the furniture is in good condition, but the new headboard really makes a positive impact on the guestroom,” said John Peel. The spacious residential-style guestrooms feature a unique layout with contemporary furnishings allowing this Residence Inn to offer guests flexibility and options that fit their routine.

Significant exterior work such as replacing trim boards, new chimney caps, an exterior paint job, and landscaping improvements add to the visual appeal of the hotel. The outdoor experience at the Residence Inn Atlanta also had some upgrades, including a stainless steel grill as well as a permanent fire-pit structure. “Most of our Residence Inn's are Generation 4 and up, which has a smaller footprint for the outdoor experience. We were able to add space to this new area along with an existing gazebo to make this outdoor area a real showpiece,” said John Peel. New patio furniture completed this vital element of the renovation fashioned for guest's enjoyment.
