Richard Roy Appointed Resort Manager

SAN ANTONIO, TX, Februay 9, 2007. The Westin La Cantera Resort announced today that they have hired Richard Roy as Resort Manager. Roy, an industry veteran, comes to The Westin La Cantera Resort from sister property, The Westin Buckhead in Atlanta, where he has served as Director of Operations since 2004.

Roy is a graduate of the famed Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. His diverse 25 years of experience began in the restaurant industry and quickly expanded into the hotel world. Roy's hotel experience spans top US properties such as Amelia Island Plantations, The Opryland Hotel and Resort, where Roy established himself in positions of leadership, including Director of Food & Beverage and Chief Operations Officer during his 15 year tenure with Opryland's Gaylord Entertainment. Finally in 2000, Roy joined Starwood Hotels & Resorts where he served as Director of Operations at The Sheraton Music City, then The Westin Buckhead in 2004, where he was instrumental in the re-branding of the property.

Set atop one of San Antonio's highest points, The Westin La Cantera Resort was built on the site of an abandoned limestone rock quarry, which translated in Spanish gives the resort its name, - "la cantera".
