Loews Coronado Bay Resort Names Brian D. Johnson as GM

CORONADO, CA - March 13, 2012 - Loews Coronado Bay Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian D. Johnson as general manager. With more than 25 years of hotel experience, including 12 with Loews Hotels, Brian takes the helm of Coronado's beloved “island on the island.”

“Over the last 12 years, Brian's vast knowledge, leadership and passion for our culture have been an integral part of our Loews brand,” said John Thacker, regional vice president of Loews Hotels. “We're thrilled to welcome him to Coronado and look forward to continued success under his direction.”

A native of Rockford, Ill., Brian's hospitality career began in high school while working as a bellman for Hyatt Milwaukee. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in finance, Brian's impressive career took him around the country, steadily climbing the ranks at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in Chicago, Denver, San Diego and Minneapolis.

In 2002, Brian joined Loews Hotels & Resorts as the director of guest services for Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando. He advanced to director of rooms for Loews Royal Pacific Resort's sister property, Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, before moving to Las Vegas to open Loews Lake Las Vegas Resort.

From there, Brian was promoted to general manager where he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the 493-room, 3,600-acre resort. Under his direction, Loews Lake Las Vegas was named one of the “World's Best Hotels” by Travel + Leisure. Over his six year-tenure in the desert, he was active in the community, serving on the board of the Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association and City of Henderson's Cultural Arts & Tourism Commission.

Today, Brian takes the helm of Loews Coronado Bay Resort, a AAA Four Diamond resort, and its 440 guestrooms, luxury spa, 80-slip marina and four restaurants and lounges. In addition to maintaining the resort's long-standing reputation as a leading resort for meetings and families, Brian is currently managing a $5.7 million renovation of the resort's lobby, Bay Terrace, Cays Lounge, Market Cafe and Market-to-Go.

When not at work, Brian enjoys San Diego's active outdoor lifestyle, including golfing, biking and camping, and loves spending time with his wife, Tracy, and their three-year-old son, Alex.
