Preferred Hotel Group Announces New Leadership in Latin America
Philipp Weghmann Named Area Managing Director,Latin America and Caribbean
CHICAGO - October 28, 2011 - Preferred Hotel Group™, a leading provider of sales and marketing support to independent hotels around the world, today named Mr. Philipp Weghmann as Area Managing Director of Latin America and Caribbean based in the company's Miami office.
In this role, Mr. Weghmann will be responsible for broadening existing member partnerships with the over 85 hotels throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, and developing a greater brand awareness throughout the region. In addition, he will oversee the general operations and growth of the São Paulo and Mexico offices. This position was previously held by Susan Devine, who is transitioning into her new role as Area Managing Director, Southern Europe and Vice President, Business Development.
With more than twelve years in the hospitality industry, Mr. Weghmann has work with hotel management to achieve their sales, and marketing, public relations and development goals. Previously at Preferred Hotel Group, he held the role of Regional Director, Iberian Peninsula and Mediterranean, where he grew the region's membership from seven to 57 members in just under five years. Mr. Weghmann was instrumental in developing key partnerships with internationally acclaimed hotel companies such as Divan Hotel Group and Tivoli Hotels.
Prior to joining Preferred Hotel Group, Mr. Weghmann spent two years with HOTUSA Hotels where he was responsible for the company's international business development in North America, Europe and Northern Africa. Mr. Weghmann began his hospitality training in Cape Town, South Africa where he spent four years learning all facets of the industry beginning at The Table Bay Hotel, Horwath Tourism & Leisure Consulting, and Wine Concepts.
A graduate of the prestigious hotel school, The Hague in The Hague, The Netherlands, Mr. Weghmann holds a Bachelor Degree in both Hotel Administration, and European Hospitality Management.
