Tcherassi Hotel + Spa Named One of 'Best New Hotels in the World'
By Both Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast Traveler
May 19, 2010 - It's unanimous! The Tcherassi Hotel + Spa in Cartagena, Colombia is one of this years' most exciting openings - at least according to the two travel magazine bibles of Conde Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure. The seven-room luxury hotel set within a restored 250-year old mansion in Cartagena's old city is the first collaboration between Colombian fashion icon Silvia Tcherassi and Miami-based CF Hospitality and has taken both the media and luxury travelers by storm since its debut late Fall of 2009.
For the fifth year, Travel + Leisure magazine set out to find the best new hotels in the world to place on the highly coveted "It List." From pioneering architecture to authentic regional experiences, they selected 45 properties that they consider to be reshaping their respective destinations. With its innovative design, impeccable restoration and highly personalized service, The Tcherassi Hotel + Spa was a perfect fit.
Sharing Travel + Leisure's good taste and keen sense of innovativeness, Conde Nast Traveler combed through thousands of hotels that debuted in the last year, stayed anonymously and selected 134 properties across 55 countries that exemplify the art of hotel innovation with the right blend of 'style, service, technology, and transporting aura.'
"An incredible amount of hard work, creativity and passion went into this project," commented Ilan Segal, Managing Partner of Tcherassi Hotels. "And it is beyond rewarding to be recognized by the world's foremost authority on luxury travel as one of the best in the world."
Situated in the heart of Cartagena's Old City along the Caribbean coast, The Tcherassi Hotel + Spa (www.tcherassihotels.com) sits subtly on a colorful, narrow street lined with historic colonial houses. After an extensive two-year restoration, Latin fashion designer Silvia Tcherassi has transformed the 250-year-old colonial mansion into her first namesake hotel. With seven unique rooms and suites, The Tcherassi Hotel + Spa features four pools, a 40-seat restaurant, a vertical garden with over 3000 plants, a roofdeck with 360 degree views of the city and the sea, as well as a full service spa. Moreover, it reignites the magical setting of a bygone era while delivering all of the modern amenities and comforts discerning travelers have come to expect today. Although The Tcherassi Hotel + Spa is an oasis within itself, it is the perfect place from which to enjoy the vibrant colors and culture of Cartagena.
