The Fairmont San Francisco Announces Call for Memorabilia

Donors Eligible to Win $25,000 Vacation in World-Famous Penthouse Suite

. October 14, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, August 16, 2006. The Fairmont San Francisco is asking the public to help celebrate its Centennial Anniversary by donating memorabilia of the landmark hotel in exchange for the chance to win a $25,000 dream vacation in the legendary Penthouse Suite.

In commemoration of this momentous occasion next year, The Fairmont San Francisco is creating a "Heritage Hall" to preserve and showcase its illustrious past. To encourage the public to contribute memorabilia to this permanent collection, The Fairmont will enter all donors in a raffle for the ultimate getaway -- a two-night stay in The Penthouse Suite.

In addition to the chance to win an unforgettable vacation, The Fairmont is offering amnesty for any items taken from the hotel during the past century. "We simply thought the lure of amnesty might not prove powerful enough to generate significant contributions. We want to create an important historical display that reflects The Fairmont's storied past so we have tried to develop a compelling call to action," comments Regional Director of Sales & Marketing Jeff Doane.

THE PENTHOUSE SUITE

Spanning the entire eighth floor of the historic Main Building, The Penthouse features 6,000 square feet of luxury - offering one-of-a-kind accommodations for today's discerning traveler. The grand dame of hotel suites has played host to President John F. Kennedy, Prince Charles of England, Nat King Cole, Marlene Dietrich, Mick Jagger, Tony Bennett and U.S. Secretary of State Edward Stettinius, who made The Penthouse his headquarters when the United Nations Charter was drafted at The Fairmont in 1945.

The Penthouse features three large bedrooms, a living room with grand piano, a formal dining room, a kitchen, a two-story circular library, a billiard room covered in Persian tile, a terrace with sweeping views of San Francisco, and round-the-clock butler and maid service. The suite rents for $12,500 per night.

The Fairmont has served as the San Francisco residence for American presidents, world leaders and stars of stage and screen since 1907. Scheduled to open on April 18, 1906, The Fairmont survived The Great Earthquake that struck that day but was ravaged by the subsequent fire. When the hotel opened exactly one year after the earthquake, it symbolized the rebirth of San Francisco.

The Fairmont requests that historical items, along with the donor's address and telephone number, be sent to: Alda Wong, The Fairmont San Francisco, 950 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA, 94108 by November 30, 2006. The raffle drawing will take place on December 4, 2006 and the winner will be notified on that date. Please note that donated items will not be returned.
