LXR Luxury Resorts Appoints Three Managers
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL, August 8, 2006. LXR Luxury Resorts Co-Presidents Jean-Jacques Pergant and Joseph Berger announce the appointments of Carlos Molinet as general manager of Fort Lauderdale Grande Hotel & Yacht Club as well as director of operations for LXR's three Fort Lauderdale properties; Shawn Farrell as resort manager of Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six Resort & Spa; and Glenn Spanier as resort manager of Bahia Mar Beach Resort & Yachting Center, effective immediately.
Molinet will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations for the Fort Lauderdale Grande, which is poised at the edge of Florida's majestic Intracoastal Waterway and offers 579 guest rooms, 33 slips for vessels up to 300 feet, and 20,000 square feet of meeting space. The property's anticipated metamorphosis with $50 million of capital expenditures for enhancements is expected to reposition its standing as one of South Florida's pre-eminent destinations for group and leisure travel. In addition, Molinet will hold the position of director of operations for LXR's three Fort Lauderdale properties, which entails overseeing all non-food and beverage projects and initiatives throughout the three properties. Most recently, Molinet served as area general manager of the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six and Bahia Mar Beach Resort. Prior to that, he spent three years as general manager of the Wyndham Grand Bay Coconut Grove in Miami, Fla. He has been in the hospitality industry for 20 years with an emphasis in management for the last 10 years.
Farrell will be responsible for overseeing the on-site operations team of the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six, which is set on 22 tropical acres and features 380 luxurious guest rooms; Spa 66, the resort's celebrated European health & beauty spa; a full-service, 127-slip marina; and five unique restaurants and lounges. Similar to the Fort Lauderdale Grande, Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six's metamorphosis includes $25 million of capital expenditures for enhancements. Farrell most recently served as resort manager of the Bahia Mar Beach Resort for the past year. Prior to that, he spent 10 years with the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six, where he held a variety of front office positions including assistant general manager, front office manager and rooms division executive. He also has previously worked at the Hyatt and Holiday Inns located in Rochester, N.Y.
Spanier will be responsible for overseeing the on-site operations team for the 296-room Bahia Mar Beach Resort, which is nestled on 44 acres in a prime location on Fort Lauderdale Beach and features five distinct room types, 22,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and an unprecedented 255-slip floating marina on the Intracoastal Waterway. He most recently served as general manager of the Holiday Inn Fort Lauderdale Beach for the last two years. Prior to that, he was the general manager of the Holiday Inn Beachside in Key West, Fla. for three years. He has been in the hospitality industry for 21 years and holds a Hotel and Restaurant Management degree from Penn State University in State College, Penn.
"Carlos, Shawn and Glenn have proven themselves to be effective leaders in our industry and we believe they will continue to excel in their new positions," says Berger.
