Associated Luxury Hotels Hosts Executive Women in Leadership Conference

. October 14, 2008

CORAL GABLES, FL, August, 2006. Associated Luxury Hotels International, which serves the meetings industry through its membership of more than 80 four- and five-diamond luxury hotels and resorts, recently conducted an "Executive Women In Leadership" conference. Conducted at The Biltmore in Coral Gables, Florida, the conference was an opportunity for women in senior level leadership positions in the hospitality and meetings industries to get together to share goals and challenges. Roundtable discussions included "Effective Leadership Styles of Women," "Empowerment," "Communication Styles," "Traits of a Leader," and "Identifying the Qualities of a Mentor." Half of the 28 participants were meeting professionals or clients of hotels, and the other half are senior level hospitality executives. Among the many findings at the conference was that these executive women want to be seen as "leaders and role models," and prefer not to be identified as "women leaders."

All participants are shown here, with conference facilitator Charlotte St. Martin, immediate past chairwoman of the MPI Foundation Board of Trustees, seated in the center (in light blue). To the immediate right of her (in white pants) is Vicky Hettleman, Northeast regional vice president of sales for Associated Luxury Hotels and chairperson of the conference.
