. October 14, 2008

SYDNEY, Australia, December 11, 2006. The international reputation of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship as the richest poker game in the Southern Hemisphere continues to escalate and has contributed to securing a celebrated field of world class poker players that will travel to Melbourne's Crown Casino in the New Year to compete for the title of 2007 Aussie Millions Champion.

Hundreds of international poker pundits from a cast of nations will converge on Crown in January, anxious to pit their skills against the best of the locals in a series of tournaments offering an overall prize pool approaching AUD$10 Million, and culminating in the $10,500 buy-in six-day No Limit Holdem Main Event from 14 to 19 January 2007.

With the Aussie Millions firmly entrenched as one of the leading money events on the international poker calendar, the 2007 Main Event is expected to attract over 500 players all vying for a slice of the expected AUD$5 Million plus prize pool which will include a guaranteed first prize of AUD$1 Million.

Visiting professionals set to prove they have the skill, attitude and 'bluffs' to excel here at Crown include 2005 World Series of Poker Champion and local poker hero Joseph Hachem, America's 'Tiger Woods of Poker' Phil Ivey, 2005 Bellagio Five Diamonds Classic winner and 2004 Card Player Magazine Player of the Year Daniel Negreanu, 2000 World Series of Poker Champion Chris 'Jesus' Ferguson, World Poker Tour Champion Gus Hansen, World Poker Tour co-commentator Mike Sexton, poker's dynamic husband and wife duo Chip & Karina Jett, the first female $1 Million poker winner Kathy Liebert, young guns Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari and Scott Fischman, 2004 European Player of the Year Marcel "The Flying Dutchman" Luske, and defending Aussie Millions champion Lee 'Final Table' Nelson.

Over 1,500 individual entrants will participate in the two week series of tournaments with an estimated 400 plus flying in from overseas locations such as the United States, Canada, England, Scandinavia, Holland and other parts of Europe.

Following on from the enormous ratings success of the US screening of the Aussie Millions Main Event, Crown and Fox Sports Net (FSN) will be partnering up for another year that will again see the Aussie Millions filmed for broadcast internationally from March 2007 as a 10 episode series with a reach of over 81 Million homes.

A coup for Australian Poker, Crown's collaboration with FSN further consolidates the prestige, recognition and credibility of the Aussie Millions, particularly in America, the home of Texas Holdem and a country that widely considers poker its national game.

These modern day mavericks of the game are from all walks of life and challenge the stereotypes. As long as you have the guts to ante up the tournament buy-in male or female, rich or poor, amateur or seasoned pro - you can compete on a level playing field against the cream of the poker profession, with equal chance to seize the glory.
