. October 14, 2008

DECEMBER 5, 2006. A new wine therapy spa has opened as part of the Marqu'es de Riscal hotel development in Elciego, Spain.

The development - which cost an estimated US$88m (lb46.3m, 69.2m euro) - took eight years to build and has been designed by architect Frank Gehry. The design includes pink, gold and silver titanium 'ribbons' to shade the hotel's sandstone exterior.

The Spa Vinotherapie Caudalie Espana, which was created by Yves Collet, covers 1,300sq m (14,000sq ft) and offers 14 treatment rooms. Spa facilities include a swimming pool, a hammam, a whirlpool, two relaxation areas and a herbal tea zone.

Therapies have been inspired by both eastern and western philosophies.

Situated in the Basque region of Spain, the new Marqu'es de Riscal development also includes an exhibition area, wine-tasting rooms and a restaurant.
