Cancun Offers Tax-free Conventions
Cancun is now offering state-of-the-art meeting and group facilities, tax-free.
CANCUN, Mexico, August 29, 2006. Meeting planners and guests involved in conventions, fairs, exhibitions and large meetings can enjoy Cancun's tax-free incentive, exempting events from the usual 10% tax on beverages, meals, accommodations, entertainment and event services, including set-up, registration, masters of ceremonies, translators, hosts, audiovisual equipment, decorations, security, cleaning, transportation and other related services contracted for the entire event, plus up to two nights before and after the event.
Known as Mexico's premier beach destination for meetings, groups and conventions, the city's 154,000 square foot convention center, the Cancun Center, is located within the heart of the region's popular hotel zone, only 15 minutes away from the Cancun International Airport.
The Center's facilities can accommodate up to 8,000 people and is surrounded by more than 4,000 rooms within walking distance, as well as a wide variety of restaurants, shops, nautical activities, nightlife and more.
In addition to the Cancun Center, hotels are now offering meeting room space and amenities, including conference rooms, press rooms, integrated lighting and sound services, state-of-the art audiovisual systems, multilingual staff and professional event planners.
One such facility, the Fiesta Americana Condesa Cancun, now offers four new halls that are capable of holding up to 1,150 people.
The Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Cancun, its sister hotel, boasts over 85,000 square feet of function and meeting space, including 25 conference rooms, a business center and a 17,299 square foot ballroom.
With over 12,700 square feet in meeting space, Le Meridien Cancun Resort and Spa also features a brand new ballroom, the Martiniere, which can be converted into five individual rooms.
Meanwhile, meeting rooms at the Moon Palace can accommodate groups ranging from 20 to 3,600 people and can provide pre-function areas consisting of junior ball rooms, breakout rooms, a hi-tech board of directors room and a business center, all on one single floor.
Outside of the convention, groups and meetings attendees can enjoy Cancun's wealth of championship golf courses, available throughout the island.
Guests will find courses designed by golf legends such as Greg Norman, Robert Trent Jones and Isao Aoki as well as breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and Nichupte Lagoon.
