NOVEMBER 9, 2006. Novotel Montreal Airport represents the cutting edge of Accor's European heritage with its innovative design and approach, featuring 120 guest rooms, 7 meeting rooms, one ballroom, a pool, whirlpool and fitness centre. Meeting rooms are equipped with the latest in conferencing technology, including flat screens, high speed WIFI access, hands-free telephony, high-tech A/V facilities and others. Guest rooms also have wall-mounted flat screen televisions and complimentary high-speed Internet access, along with other stylish amenities such as oversize showers and ergonomic furniture, making the business traveler's stay a particularly enjoyable one.

Irwin Prince, President and COO of Realstar Hospitality, is thrilled at the way that the combination of services, amenities and design have come together in this first-of-its-kind property. 'It is our intention to grow the Novotel brand in Canada through new construction and conversion of existing hotels,' said Prince. 'We are committed to rolling out this new concept elsewhere and in establishing other showcases of Novotel's contemporary, stylish room standards and unparalleled high-quality service approach. This concept represents a marked break from the typical airport hotel product, and Realstar and Accor intend to use this as a benchmark for future expansion of the Novotel brand in Canada.'

The original design makes for an exciting prototype. Located at the highly accessible intersection of Alfred-Nobel and Hymus Boulevards, this five-storey hotel was conceived by the award-winning teams of WZMH Architects Limited and II by IV Design Associates.

The team deliberately developed a design that broke the mould of the old-fashioned, typical American-looking franchise brands with a unique and distinctive look that distinguishes this hotel from others in its category yet is also fitting for its high-technology neighbours in the St-Laurent Technoparc.

'This opening marks an important opportunity for us as we introduce two new concepts,' remarked Didier Obeuf, Senior Vice-president of Operations in Canada for Accor North America's Business and Leisure division. 'Not only is the design and the concept of this hotel exceptional in the Canadian upper mid-scale segment, but it also represents what the Novotel brand is migrating toward with its new product. We are also introducing a new restaurant concept to provide both the hotel guest and outside patrons, an opportunity to marry food, wines, and pleasure at a great price value, for lunch and dinner, and our great breakfast buffet, offering the Best Bread in the City.'

The restaurant at Novotel Montreal Airport will be called Trio, and is the first of a new generation of restaurants that will be gradually unrolled in all Canadian Novotels. The concept is based upon the general principle that 'good things come in threes', and the menu, d'ecor and service have been given an important emphasis that is uncommon in the conventional hotel restaurant. With a distinct menu articulated by the Novotel food and beverage team, this restaurant will not only stand out among other hotel restaurants but will be a welcome addition to an area with few options of this caliber.

First, the quality of the food and the menu offerings are more typical to a fine urban restaurant, with a variety of contemporary French and European-inspired dishes. Second, the dishes are available in two formats: regular and appetizer size, in the event that guests choose to share a variety of the delicious offerings, tapas style. And third, the menu offers its own helpful guide to allow guests to act as their own sommeliers with an easy to follow colour-coding to suggest wines to accompany each dish and selected wines featured at just above cost.

Chef Beno^it Bilquard brings 16 years of experience within the Novotel family to this new hotel, with a fresh, simple and deliciously inventive approach to cooking. 'The innovations behind the Trio concept mean that with Novotel Montreal Airport, we have a complete and unique offering,' stated Gilles Rebmann, the hotel's General Manager. 'Not only will this be a destination of choice for the business and leisure traveler, but we have everything one needs to conduct meetings, conferences and special events with our superb guest rooms, and well-appointed conference and restaurant facilities.'

The hotel includes 5,000 square feet of meeting space capable of hosting up to 350 people at one time or 200 people in a single room. The restaurant can accommodate 50 guests, plus another 30 on the patio in the summer and 30 in the bar lounge areas, along with a private room for 26 people.
