Carlson to Manage New Bangkok Hotel

NOVEMBER 2, 2006. Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific is developing a new Radisson hotel in Thailand - the Radisson Suites Bangkok Sukhumvit. Scheduled to open in the latter half of 2008, the hotel will be located in the heart of Bangkok along one of the city's best-known roads, Sukhumvit Road. Owned by Siri Erawan Company Limited and managed by Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, the suite hotel will comprise of two towers - one existing 11 storey tower to be fully renovated and one new seven storey tower featuring a roof-top pool.

Paul Kirwin, president and managing director, Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific, said: "For Carlson Hotels, Thailand is a major focus in our expansion in the region and we see Bangkok as a key gateway city for the region.

"The past twelve months has been very strong for Bangkok's hotel industry and the recent opening of the Suvarnabhumi Airport will stimulate interest and create greater demand for quality hotels among business and leisure travellers. With this in mind, we believe this as an opportune time to enter the Bangkok market with another hotel under the Radisson brand."

The hotel is conveniently located amidst shops, department stores, restaurants and entertainment facilities, including the Queen Sirikit Convention Centre. A 10 minute walk will take guests to the Asoke MRT and BTS stations, while Bangkok's new International Airport is a 45 minute drive from the hotel.

The hotel will comprise 170 suites - the majority being studio and one bedroom. The contemporary design will feature a Club Lounge for executives, a state-of-the-art fitness centre, meeting facilities, a bar and restaurant.
