History of the Family-Owned Hotel

The Limelight Lodge has grown deep roots in Aspen, enduring more than 50 years in the constantly changing resort and remaining a family-owned business through more than four generations. The hotel at 228 East Cooper Avenue opened in the 1950s as the Ski & Spur but changed names when Glenn Yarbrough and friends bought the property. Yarbrough's band, The Limelighters, made the hotel their main stage. Over the years, the property was host to the Smothers Brothers' comedy debut and a Judy Collins drop-in performance.

Nina Paas and her son, Glen, bought Yarbrough's three-room lodge in 1962. Since the Paas family's purchase, they have built an additional 35 rooms and acquired the neighboring Ski-Vu Lodge, Deep Powder Lodge, and Snowflake Inn. The Paas family now includes the Woolery family, and the entire clan still owns and operates the new 126-room Limelight Lodge. Their 50+ years of experience are evident in the new design that incorporates the families' personal touches like extra-wide hallways, tall ceilings, and broad balconies.

Pet Friendly

The Limelight Lodge was Aspen's first pet-friendly hotel, and the new property continues the tradition of fun for the entire family. Four-legged friends receive a dog or cat bowl and placemat, and a dog walking area is available on-site. Pets are welcome for $25 per day, per pet.

Groups & Events

The new Limelight Lodge offers several guest room configurations ideal for groups including a two-bedroom condo and two freestanding Casitas near the pool, adjacent to the meeting room.

The conference room features 1,800 square feet of flexible event space that can be arranged in a variety of seating configurations. Several outdoor spaces are available for receptions including a 1,320-square-foot outdoor balcony overlooking the pool courtyard and a smaller, 588-square-foot terrace with stunning views of Aspen Mountain. The Living Room, with nearly 5,000 square feet of usable space, is also available for events.
