Saint Paul Hotel Relies on Maestro ResEze
SEPTEMBER 3, 2008. Historic elegance and unmatched hospitality are the hallmarks of the Saint Paul Hotel in St. Paul, Minnesota. Although it celebrates its 100th birthday in two years, the Cond'e Nast Travelers 'Gold List' property uses 21st Century ResEze Internet reservation management technology and multi-modular hotel software from NORTHWIND-MaestroTM PMS to fill its 254 rooms with both corporate and leisure guests.
"The Saint Paul Hotel's tradition of personalized service has earned us the AAA Four Diamond Award for 25 consecutive years. Today we rely on advanced Web reservations and yield management technology to meet our guests online, where more of our clients are booking." said Alicia Olson, revenue manager of The Saint Paul Hotel. The property uses the Maestro ResEze Web booking system and Yield Management that are fully integrated with its Maestro Front Office System. "Since ResEze is integrated real time with the property's Maestro front office room inventory database, we can sell to the last room with confidence - unlike when blocks are sold by third-party channels." ResEze also enables group leaders to book group block rooms online.
Money on the table
Maximizing revenue is Alicia Olson's job and she knows her business. "We use Maestro Yield Management to optimize rates for leisure, group and corporate segments across all our channels," said Olson. "We put our revenue strategy in place at the beginning of the year and the system automatically adjusts our rate controls and minimum stay requirements according to demand to ensure our rates and occupancy are optimized."
Reduce online reservation costs
"Web business is increasing and the money we save on online reservations goes straight to the bottom line," Olson explained. "Most GDS connections charge about $12 per reservation, plus travel agent commissions. With ResEze we pay a flat percentage fee plus T/A commissions. The difference on an average room is a savings of five dollars with ResEze, which adds up quickly at our reservation pace." The luxury Saint Paul Hotel is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts and Historic Hotels of America.
