West Paces Group Reopens the Hotel at Auburn U. After Renovations

. October 14, 2008

AUBURN, AL, August 26, 2008. After eight months of extensive renovations, The Hotel at Auburn University reopens all of its 236 new guestrooms just in time for the hotel's 20th anniversary. Spacious rooms, special pet-friendly rooms, and VIP suites are the highlights of the makeover. Featuring the latest in technology and ultimate comfort in furnishings and finishings that reflect its alma mater, the new guestrooms provide football fans, business travelers, and families with all the comforts of home while surrounding them with Tiger Spirit.

"The hotel opened its doors on September 30, 1988 to serve the city of Auburn and Auburn University, and we are excited that we are reopening the renovated guestrooms and suites to commemorate this occasion," said Hans van der Reijden, Managing Director of The Hotel at Auburn University. "It is with great pride that we are able to continue to serve this great community with all of the modern luxuries that guests have come to expect when travelling."

The hotel began the multi-million dollar room upgrades in December 2007, and the changes can be seen as soon as the elevator doors open. Artwork depicting significant historic moments related to Auburn University now adorn the hallway walls. Images from World War II tanks decorated in Tiger paraphernalia to winning moments in Tiger football tell the stories of the university and tie together the past, present and future.

The future makes its presence known with state-of-the-art plasma screen televisions, cordless phones, wireless Internet, microwaves and refrigerators that can be found in every room along with stunning new light fixtures and extremely spacious wooden desks. Guestrooms now feature solid wood doors decorated with molding that open into a lovely tiled entryway converging with new carpeting. Subtle influences of the university's colors can be found in the rooms' furnishings, linens and curtains. The walls are adorned with artwork depicting the campus, giving the rooms a true sense of place. In addition to the rooms, the hallways are lighter and brighter with new wallpaper and light fixtures.

All bathrooms were rebuilt from the bottom up. The bathtubs were replaced with much larger, tiled walk-in showers, opening up the entire room. Softer lighting from stylish wall sconces illuminates the dark wood and granite-topped vanities, and wood-framed mirrors provide a touch of elegance.

The hotel also boasts nine brand new luxury suites that were converted from 18 former guestrooms. Featuring wet-bars, hardwood flooring, flat screen televisions, a spacious sitting area for entertaining, and French doors leading into the bedroom, the suites provide the ultimate VIP experience. The suites are on the top floor of the hotel, offering prime views of the university's campus, Samford Hall and downtown Auburn, and are perfect for special occasions and VIP guests.

For family pets and guests of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the hotel has designated 10 special pet-friendly rooms that offer bamboo flooring, specially treated fabric, no exposed wires, and food and water bowls to provide all the comforts of home for four-legged travelers.

Aside from the rooms, the hotel swimming pool area has also been completely resurfaced and has been updated with new lounge furniture and tables. Beautiful and fragrant herb gardens now line the pool grounds, providing the hotel's restaurant's chefs with the freshest ingredients for meals.
