Microtel Opens Prototype in Bath, NY

. October 14, 2008

MAY 5, 2008. Indus Mehta Properties, LLC of Pittsford, NY has opened a Microtel Inn & Suites hotel at 370 West Morris Street in Bath, NY, off I-86 in the southwestern Finger Lakes region, near Hammondsport and 43 miles from Elmira, NY. The new hotel showcases the brand's award-winning prototype design, and boasts a contemporary and streamlined, yet practical environment, with unexpected enhancements that guests would not ordinarily expect to find in an economy hotel. Microtel is the Atlanta-based award-winning chain of all-new construction, interior corridor economy/limited service hotels.

The 67-room Microtel Inn & Suites in Bath is convenient to local wineries, Glen Curtis Museum, the Corning Museum of Glass and Watkins Glen Raceway. It is 80 miles from the Rochester, NY International Airport.

"We are proud to continue Microtel's expansion throughout New York State and to bring a new economy hotel with quality accommodations and reasonable rates to Bath," said Jett Mehta, managing member of Indus Mehta Properties, which owns and operates Microtel hotels in the Buffalo and Rochester, NY markets in Olean, Springville, Victor and Wellsville. "Microtel's prototype design sets a new standard for guests and defines the economy hotel of the future." Mehta is a former Microtel brand 'Franchisee of the Year' and all his company's Microtel hotels were named 'Quality Excellence' award winners at the brand's conference last February.

Tammy Murphy, CHA, Director of Sales/Marketing & Purchasing for Indus Companies and 2008 Microtel 'Salesperson of the Year' award winner - who oversaw the purchasing and start up of the hotel - said, "We are very excited to be in Bath and will be inviting the community to our official Grand Opening in June. We have already started taking reservations for weddings, reunions and other events including the Nascar Race in Watkins Glen."

The three-story Bath, NY Microtel Inn & Suites offers single, double and suite accommodations. With the new design, the hotel's bold color palette known as "Metro" (one of the brand's six new palettes) integrates rich, deep colors to create a comfortable, inviting atmosphere and consistent theme throughout. All guestrooms feature a coffeemaker, microfridge, hairdryer, iron and board, as well as a 26-inch flat-panel television with HBO, ESPN and Pay-Per-View, sleek granite countertops, and desk units equipped with easily accessible power and data ports. Suites, equipped with 32-inch flat-panel televisions and Microtel's signature MicroKitchenTM, are divided into four 'zones' with ample space to work, eat, sleep and relax.

Amenities include free local and free long distance phone calls anywhere within the continental U.S. and free WiFi in all guestrooms, Microtel's new complimentary Get Up and JoeTM continental daily breakfast and 24 hr. coffee and tea, a fitness center, business center, and guest laundry. The hotel features the stylish Microtel bedding known as Dream WellTM with plush pillow-top mattress and fitted bed skirt, high quality 200-thread count white and khaki-piped linens with triple sheeting, down-like blanket, decorative top sheet, bed scarf and pillows.

The brand's new design - which is being launched at all new Microtel hotels worldwide - was created last November as an outgrowth of a competition that Microtel sponsored with the Savannah College of Art and Design-Atlanta (SCAD). Graduate interior design students competed to produce a Microtel suite guestroom redesign and the three finalists' concepts went from design to actually being installed in three suites at a Microtel Inn & Suites hotel in Atlanta. Under the direction of Microtel's Design Director Bijal Patel, a recent SCAD graduate and one of the finalists, as well as input from Microtel franchisees and guests, various aspects of all three designs were incorporated to produce the new award-winning prototype.

The new design has received awards including "Best Guestroom Design" in the limited-service category in the prestigious HotelWorld Global Hospitality & Design Awards competition, and Lodging Hospitality magazine's 2008 "Chain Leadership Award."
