Antigua Launches Eco-tour
OCTOBER 20, 2006. A new eco-tour located in the south of Antigua deep within the rainforest and set to open November 2006.
The Antigua Rainforest Canopy Tour is the first of its kind on the island and offers visitors a truly unforgettable journey through the verdant forest, high above the trees. Ideal for families or groups of friends, this high wire course, made up of 26 elements, takes visitors from tree to tree via an assortment of suspension bridges, zip lines and swings, climaxing with a daredevil 60-foot controlled parachute jump.
The tour will give visitors an incredible bird's eye view of the beautiful flora and fauna of Antigua's rainforest including the famous Antiguan Black Pineapple, and bird spotters will not be disappointed with sights of the grackle, turtle dove and white crowned pigeon. Midway through the course visitors can enjoy refreshments in a tree house, hidden away from the rest of the world. At the end of the tour visitors can relax on the viewing verandah of the 2,000 square feet bar and caf'e with a refreshing local juice overlooking the Antiguan rainforest. There will also be a gift shop.
Safety is paramount and the company uses a Double Redundant System as well as providing state-of-the-art harnesses and safety helmets. All staff are ACCT credited and world leaders for Challenge Course standards in installation, operation and inspection. Antigua Rainforest Canopy Tour will be open seven days a week from 08:00 to 18:00. For more information visit www.antiguarainforest.com
