WASHINGTON, DC, October 13, 2006. The Madison, a Loews Hotel, in Washington D.C. is pleased to announce the hiring of Bill Dougherty, Loews Hotels' Marketer of the Year, as director of marketing. Loews Hotels assumed management of The Madison, the landmark Washington D.C. hotel, in April of 2006. The hotel, which opened in 1963, has hosted every President since John F. Kennedy, as well as countless heads of state, international business leaders and some of Washington's most notable figures.

"The Madison has a long history in the D.C. area," stated James LoBosco, general manager. "With Bill's extensive hospitality experience and leadership skills, we have completed the final piece of the puzzle necessary to successfully re-introduce the hotel to the Washington market as a Loews property."

Dougherty is a 17-year industry veteran with several years of experience in the Baltimore and Washington market. Prior to Oct. 2, Dougherty served as the director of sales and marketing for the Loews Annapolis Hotel.

Previously, Dougherty served as director of sales and marketing at The Tides Inn in Irvington, VA, and director of sales at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. Other positions include director of group sales, national sales manager, manager of catering and conference management, and project manager.
