Marshall Management to Operate the Kalorama Guest House, Washington, DC
SALISBURY, MD, August 28, 2006. Marshall Management, a leading, mid-sized hotel management company, today announced that it has signed a management contract to operate The Kalorama Guest House in Washington, D.C. The property offers 47 rooms in six converted turn-of-the-century Victorian homes located in the city's upscale Woodley Park and Adams Morgan neighborhoods. It is the fifth property added to the company's portfolio in 2006.
"This property is in the best European hostelry tradition, somewhat like an American bed and breakfast," said Michael Marshall, president. "It appeals to European travelers and to North American guests who want a comfortable, affordable, home-like environment in a trendy residential neighborhood setting. We have extensive experience in dealing with overseas travelers and unique properties like The Kalorama Guest House and look forward to this assignment."
Located in the 1800 block of Mintwood Place NW and the 2700 block of Cathedral Avenue NW, the non-smoking guest houses provide a complimentary continental breakfast, afternoon cookies with hot apple cider or lemonade and evening sherry. Additional information is available at the company's newly updated Web site, www.kaloramaguesthouse.com.
"We continue to see increased interest by owners who seek to improve the returns on their hotels and have an active pipeline for new management assignments," Marshall said. "Operating margins are under considerable pressure due to higher energy and insurance costs, as well as from rising labor expense and real estate taxes. With our proprietary operating systems, we have been able to increase profitability at our managed hotels by increasing revenues while restraining costs."
Salisbury, Md.-based Marshall Management, founded in 1980, has special expertise in operating three- and four-star branded hotels and resorts, averaging 100 to 400 rooms, in urban and central business districts, suburban/drive-to and resort locations.
