Canada’s Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge Appoints Benjamin Godin as New Executive Chef

Canada, Vancouver, British Columbia. June 24, 2024

Baillie Lodges' Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge, nestled in the remote wilderness of Canada's Vancouver Island, officially announces its recent appointment of Executive Chef Benjamin Godin. With an illustrious career spanning 13 years, Chef Godin brings a wealth of culinary expertise to further enhance and elevate the guest experience at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge.

In his new role, Godin will oversee the lodge's culinary operations across the lodge's restaurant, The Cookhouse, and lounge, The Ivanhoe, as well as other culinary initiatives throughout the property, from weddings and events to experiences and partnerships. Godin's culinary ethos centers around local produce and modern techniques, reflecting the coastal cuisine and seafood in the surrounding areas, and he is thrilled to provide guests with an authentic taste of Vancouver Island.

Chef Godin's culinary career has taken him across the world, from beginning his career in Vancouver to spending time in Sydney, Australia, and now returning to his hometown, Tofino. Prior to joining Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge, Godin was the Sous Chef at Shokunin in Calgary where he ran day-to-day operations. Before that, he served as Chef de Partie at Anna Lena in Vancouver and Junior Sous at Pidgin, perfecting his craft in butchery, sauce work, catering, and more.

"My passion for cooking, remote wilderness, local cuisine, and stunning natural environments led me to join the team at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge," says Chef Godin. "Since I was a child, it has been a dream of mine to move back home to Tofino and work in a natural, pristine environment such as Clayoquot itself. Having grown up on the island, I understand the local produce and where to best source ingredients so that guests will enjoy a unique sense of place throughout the dining experience. I couldn't be more excited to join the talented team at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge and continue to bring special moments and everlasting memories to our guests."

"We are honored to welcome Ben to the lodge and look forward to his contributions in further developing an unforgettable experience through culinary delights for our guests," said Sarah Cruse, General Manager at Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge. "Chef Godin's passion for local cuisine and seafood is complemented by his impressive experience and we are lucky to have him on board."

Born in Tofino and raised in Vancouver, Ben enjoys spending his free time exploring the magical wilderness of BC and golfing. In addition, he is very passionate about the food and beverage industry, and he enjoys learning about the latest trends and discovering new food to try.
