Haymax Capital Opens Mollie Aspen in Colorado

USA, Aspen, Colorado. February 16, 2024

MOLLIE Aspen created and operated by HayMax Capital, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony December 22, 2023 in celebration of the highly-anticipated debut of the new property. Local elected officials, community leaders, design and construction collaborators, and other property stakeholders will be in attendance.

Located at the corner of Garmsich and Main Streets across from Paepcke Park, the hotel features 68 guestrooms and a distinctive selection of public spaces including: a lobby retail boutique, roof terrace spa pool set to open Spring 2024, and flexible event spaces. In addition to this the hotel also features a delectable food & beverage program led by the award-winning, Gin & Luck (behind Death & Co) which consists of a spacious lobby restaurant and bar with year-round heated outdoor seating, a laid-back all-day cafeĢ, and serviced roof terrace.

MOLLIE is designed for those with a natural curiosity and appreciation for connection and offers visitors a unique, welcoming respite in the bustling mountain town. In the late 19th century Aspen's most successful silver mine was Mollie Gibson, named for its owner's sister. Described as "the darling of Aspen's present and the symbol of its future", Mollie served as a catalyst for the town's early economic, social, and cultural progress. Drawing inspiration from the many individuals that shaped Aspen throughout its history, MOLLIE embodies the spirit of their restless enthusiasm for the outdoors, ability to bring people together and passion for art, design and freedom of expression. MOLLIE's warmth and graciousness as a host to visitors and locals alike can be found in the hotel's design, food & beverage, and service.

"The opening of MOLLIE is a testament to our roots in Aspen and is a truly locally owned and operated hotel, created in partnership with the best-in-class partners across interior design, architecture, food & beverage, and retail. Our experience owning and operating businesses in Aspen for over 20 years allowed us to deliver a new property created for locals by locals who love this special place we call home and share that with visitors who will discover the charm Aspen has to offer all under one roof," said Michael Brown, Co-Founder of HayMax Capital and Aspen local.

"Michael and I have been coming to Aspen for over 40 years and over this time we've developed a deep appreciation for the local community. Our experience coupled with the relationships in Aspen we've cultivated over decades has enabled us to be deliberate with how the hotel was built, with the utmost respect to the environment. MOLLIE is a new model for community-driven development that is built on the foundation of positive impact, for our neighbors, the local business community and for Aspen. We hope that MOLLIE will be a place locals and visitors can spend time and feel at home - eating, drinking, sleeping, or just hanging out in front of the fire," said Aaron Brown, Co-Founder of HayMax Capital.

"The chance to recreate such a long- standing Aspen icon was a great opportunity to look forward and also embrace Aspen's history. Early in the process, we looked at the city's original plat, to find a scale and rhythm of MOLLIE's facade reflective of the historical grain, like many Aspen landmarks. We also designed MOLLIE to continue Aspen's legacy of inspired modernist design, in a way that creates a memorable place for visitors, friends and families to get together. We're very proud of being part of the MOLLIE team from the first conceptual sketches; it was a pleasure to work with HayMax Capital, who charged the entire team to create an environment which would be welcoming, smart, and rejuvenating. The collaboration with HayMax, Stan Clauson, Post Company, and Shaw Construction was integral to bringing the new MOLLIE to life." said John Cottle, Partner of CCY Architects.

With architecture by locally based internationally acclaimed firm, CCY Architects, and interior design by award-winning studio, Post Company, MOLLIE is a 50-million dollar project that has been under planning and development for over a decade consisting of sustainable demolition and property development, setting a new gold standard for construction and demolition debris. The new hotel holds a commitment to a reduction of excess and employs sustainable efforts throughout the property and its operations including materials sourced from Aspen and Western U.S. regions, thermally modified wood siding and brick, high-performance glass windows comprised of fiberglass exteriors with aluminum interiors, a high-efficiency heating and cooling system, an LED lighting system, and a water filtration management system.
