Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin Welcomes Hakan Ozel as GM

Tianjin, China - May 28, 2014 - Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts has appointed Hakan Ozel as general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin, the group's newest project in mainland China. As the general manager of the new hotel, Mr. Ozel is responsible for the overview of the hotel's pre-opening activities and the smooth running of daily operations and colleagues' welfare before the hotel officially opens in the late summer. The hotel will have 304 guestrooms and suites, in addition to 39 units of serviced apartments and two in-house restaurants, with an extended family of more than 380 colleagues.

Mr. Ozel has about 20 years of hospitality experience and has been with the Shangri-La family for over eight years. Prior to his current appointment, he was the resident manager at Shangri-La Hotel, Beijing, where he undertook special projects to improve the hotel and its facilities. He has also worked at other Shangri-La properties in Wenzhou, Shenzhen and Dalian, as well as Indonesia and the Sultanate of Oman.

Before joining the Shangri-La family, Mr. Ozel held several postings at luxury hotels spanning Egypt, United Arab Emirates and his hometown in Turkey, where he started his illustrious career in food and beverage management. A graduate of the tourism and hotel management faculty in Bilkent University, Turkey, Mr. Ozel's passion and knowledge in the art of dining is unprecedented.

Married with a six-year old son, Mr. Ozel loves to entertain his friends with a home-cooked meal. He spends most of his free time with his family, exploring the city through visits to cultural and historical places.
