Wyndham Signs Agreements in 15 Major Markets
Including New York
SEPTEMBER 14, 2006. Wyndham Hotel Group today announced agreements to franchise or manage 15 Wyndham(R) upscale hotels totaling 2,886 guest rooms in key markets including Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago and - in a first for the brand - New York City, a move that would expand the chain to 102 hotels and 26,765 rooms.
Wyndham properties also will be developed in the Seattle area; Austin, Texas; Jacksonville and Orlando, Fla.; Springfield, Mass.; Gettysburg, Pa.; Chantilly, Va.; Winchester, Va.; and Norwich, Conn. The deals all were signed in the 11-month period since the company purchased the brand in October 2005.
In addition, 11 Corinthia hotels in major European cities including Budapest, St. Petersburg, Prague and Lisbon will join the Wyndham system under a previously announced agreement with the Corinthia Group of Companies of Malta to jointly manage hotels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
'These agreements and our expanding development pipeline demonstrate the Wyndham brand's appeal to owners and investors who seek a high-quality, upscale brand for competitive markets,' said Steven A. Rudnitsky, Wyndham Hotel Group president and chief executive officer.
'By clarifying the Wyndham brand's position in the upscale segment and committing the necessary operational, marketing and distribution resources to nurture and grow the system, we have established a compelling value proposition for developers in key primary and secondary markets,' he said.
Rudnitsky said the company's ongoing global development efforts have resulted in a total pipeline of about 790 properties representing 85,000 rooms for its Wyndham, Ramada(R), Super 8(R), Days Inn(R), Wingate Inn(R), Baymont(R), Howard Johnson(R), Travelodge(R), AmeriHost Inn(R) and Knights Inn(R) brands as of June 30.
