Award-winning Meetings at Grand Hyatt New York

. July 16, 2013

New York - July 16, 2013 - The Grand Hyatt New York, the legendary Manhattan hotel, proudly accepts the prestigious 2013 Pinnacle Award from industry leader, Successful Meetings. Readers of the publication, all of whom are meetings, events and conference professionals, voted for the Pinnacle Award winners. The 2013 Pinnacle Awards are the mark of excellence for meeting destinations, hotels and conference centers. The awarded hotels and organizations have done an outstanding job servicing their meetings, incentive travel programs, trade shows and conventions during the previous year. The 2013 Pinnacle Award marks the 18th time the Grand Hyatt New York has won this accolade.

“We are honored to receive this award from Successful Meetings,” said General Manager, Mark Pardue. “As one of New York City's most iconic and historic hotels, we have long recognized the importance of the meetings and events community. We are proud that the readers of Successful Meetings have bestowed this honor on the hotel.”

New offerings for meeting and event planners at the Grand Hyatt New York include the Be Green and Save 3% package, which provides 3% savings to organizers who ship less, print local, recycle their materials, and follow other eco-friendly steps. Meetings planners can also take advantage of the hotel's Personal Preference Dining service. This allows for the planner to choose soup, salad and desserts while their guests can select their own entree.

Fresh off a recent $130 million renovation that enhanced the entire property, the hotel's 60,000 square feet of meeting space can accommodate 10 to 1,500 guests in the more than 50 meeting rooms that are available, ranging from the prestigious Empire Ballroom to a variety of smaller, flexible venues. One of the most unexpected venues is the Museum Space, located in the heart of the hotel's soaring lobby. Set amongst two larger-than-life installations by Spanish sculptor Jaume Plensa, which are reminiscent of the Moai sculptures on Easter Island, the Museum Space offers a dramatic setting for private events and meetings. The space is created by a series of screens that come down from the 24-foot ceilings to the floor, creating an intimate venue, in the middle of the hotel's lobby.

The illustrious Empire Ballroom includes an Italian marble foyer and beaded glass drapery at its entrance, and a “Champagne cloud” chandelier made from 7,000 pieces of hand-blown glass. Since its debut in 1917, the ballroom has hosted such distinguished events as John F. Kennedy's acceptance of the Democratic Party nomination for President in 1960, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 1956 speech, “Desegregation and the Future,” and Hillary and Bill Clinton's celebration of her appointment to the New York State Senate in 2000.
