ORLANDO - January 30, 2013 - Wyndham Orlando Resort today announced the appointment of Richard (Rich) Larkin as general manager, overseeing the hotel's multi-million dollar re-imagination project in 2013. He will also be responsible for hotel operations, staff management, project administration and guest relations.

“Consistently recognized for excellent service and hospitality, Rich Larkin has an outstanding track record of success and credibility, proving to be a leader delivering exceptional customer service,” states Phillip D'Amico, senior director of sales and marketing of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts. “We are pleased to welcome Rich to the Wyndham family and look forward to his success at Wyndham Orlando Resort.”

Joining Wyndham Orlando Resort with a comprehensive understanding of hotel operations, Rich Larkin most recently served as general manager of Hilton Daytona Beach Resort, where he led the property through an expansive 50 million dollar renovation and rebranding. While there, Larkin served on the boards of the Halifax Area Advertising Authority and the Daytona Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau where he was recognized several times for outstanding service and hospitality within the community. Larkin earned additional renovation experience while working with Pyramid Hotel Group, where he transitioned the International Plaza Resort and Spa to the Doubletree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld on International Drive.

“I am thrilled see the changes unfold at Wyndham Orlando Resort over the next few months,” says Larkin. “With the redevelopment affecting the entire resort, including the guest experience, I am excited to join the team during this pivotal part of the resort's history.”

Beginning a new chapter in its nearly 40-year heritage, Wyndham Orlando Resort and owner I Shops LLC broke ground late August 2012 on an extensive multi-million dollar enhancement, further establishing its landmark location on the world-renowned International Drive and bringing an unprecedented resort concept to Orlando. Guests will see a complete refurbishment and upgrade to all 613 guest rooms and suites including modern resort-chic decor, a pathway leading to a grand porte-cochere and an expansive, newly constructed lobby and conference center.
