Phoenix Celebrates Debut Of Hotel Palomar Phoenix at Cityscape

. June 11, 2012

June 11, 2012 - Amid a morning of fanfare that included entertainment by the Phoenix Suns' drum line, a modern dance performance, and a welcome by the city's mayor, Phoenix celebrated the grand opening of Kimpton's new Hotel Palomar Phoenix at CityScape today.

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants debuted Hotel Palomar Phoenix with a host of events reflecting the excitement and energy the stylish new boutique hotel will bring to the city's downtown. PHX Percussion, the drum line for the NBA's Phoenix Suns, kicked off the festivities to welcome the team's new neighbor with a booming march through the streets of downtown Phoenix and later performed along with favorite local urban dance troupe, EPIK Dance Company, for more than 200 guests who attended the hotel's dedication ceremony.

City of Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton said the new 242-room hotel added to the excitement of the city's evolving downtown.

“We're so proud that Kimpton and its Hotel Palomar particularly have chosen downtown Phoenix,” Stanton said. “The uniqueness of having a Kimpton, and the value and uniqueness that a Kimpton brings, will mean people are going to stay here rather than going to other locales,” he said.

Jim Hollister, general manager of Hotel Palomar Phoenix, said the Kimpton hotel pairs a chic, urban style inspired by its Arizona surroundings with an unbeatable location and all the signature programs and amenities for which Kimpton is loved.

“The contemporary design of the hotel offers subtle hints about it location here in Arizona in everything from the artwork, furnishings and even in the guestrooms and reflects the excitement and energy of the downtown, which is literally just on our doorstep,” he said.

Key features of the hotel include its open-air, third-floor pool and Lustre bar overlooking US Airways Center and Chase Field (home of the Arizona Diamondbacks), the adjacent Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails, an American gastro pub, and approximately 10,000 square feet in meeting and event space that offers views to the Phoenix skyline.

Among the signature Kimpton programs and amenities Hotel Palomar Phoenix offers its guests are complimentary coffee in the morning and nightly wine hour, bicycles to explore the city as a part of its Live Like a Local program and complimentary in-room yoga, offering yoga mats and TV programming, a popular component of its Mind.Body.Spa. wellness program.

The opening of Hotel Palomar CityScape marks a final step in the completion of the six-year, $500 million CityScape Phoenix, a dynamic new mixed-use development featuring shopping, entertainment and dining. Ideally located in the heart of the downtown, the hotel is just steps from a host of business and leisure attractions, including the Phoenix Convention Center, the Comerica Theatre, Symphony Hall and a variety museums and cultural attractions.

Jeff Moloznik, general manager of CityScape Phoenix, said that Kimpton is able to reflect the energy of downtown Phoenix unlike any other hotel company.

“It started with the two most important factors: people and place. The energy this place begins with marrying Kimpton with CityScape and we feel incredibly lucky that Kimpton recognized what an exciting opportunity this is and took it one step further,” he said, citing the hotel's unique design and innovative guest programs.
