Delta Saguenay Hotel and Conference Centre Opens in Quebec
June 7, 2012 - Delta Hotels and Resorts announces the official opening of the Delta Saguenay Hotel and Conference Centre in Saguenay, Quebec. The hotel has undergone an extensive multi-million dollar renovation to completely revamp the property making it the city's first 4-star upscale hotel.
"The Delta Saguenay is our sixth property in Quebec and an important market for our continued expansion in the province," said Raymond Larivee, Regional Vice President, Delta Hotels and Resorts, Quebec. "As the only hotel in the region north of Quebec City with a convention centre, the Delta Saguenay further strengthens our ability to attract conferences and group meetings in Quebec, which is a critical part of our growth strategy."
The renovation included a complete redesign of the hotel's 155 guestrooms to provide spaces that are modern, adaptable and laden with technology features aimed at today's highly design-conscious travelers who want to live, work and connect on their own terms. The new guestroom design, called ModeRoom™, is inspired by the Canadian landscape, with fresh and modern colour palettes and a focus on maximizing natural light. The rooms balance functionality and adaptability - as exemplified by the SmartDesk™, a fully-wired, multi-purpose area that provides guests with a clutter-free space, built-in power and connectivity dock, and links from your laptop and mobile devices to the flat screen high definition TV.
"The renovation is an important evolution for the hotel," says Claude Mathieu, General Manager, Delta Saguenay Hotel and Conference Centre. "We attract a large number of business travelers who are looking for a technology-enabled, adaptable space. Our fully-transformed hotel will provide them with a 4-star experience unlike anything they have experienced in Saguenay."
The room design also features subtle and thoughtful touches to help guests feel at home. From conveniently placed shelves and hooks in the entry way, to pinpoint reading lights in the headboard, to custom bathroom vanities that leave lots of space for guest belongings, to bedside plug-ins for your smartphone devices, the newly designed guestrooms will give travelers a sense of comfort that is easily adapted to suit their needs. The rooms will also feature philosophy® amenities skin care products.
The renovations also include a new restaurant and lounge, a full redevelopment of the lobby and public areas, and the creation of new business and fitness centres. The hotel's 22,000 square feet of conference space which features 17 meeting rooms and an 11,660 square foot ballroom will also be revamped, and is expected to be completed by mid-August.
"I look forward to leading this team in building Delta's brand presence in Saguenay," says Mathieu. "Delta is well known for its high level of service excellence and we are excited to deliver the upscale Delta experience to our guests."
The Delta Saguenay is ideally located in the heart of the Saguenay-Lac Saint Jean region, approximately 200 km north of Quebec City. The hotel is close to downtown and the business district, as well as provincial and federal government buildings. It is just a few minutes from Bagotville Airport, and directly off of Autoroute 70 and very close to the intersection with Route 175 making travel to and fromQuebec City easily accessible. The hotel is within close proximity of Saguenay's many outdoor and cultural attractions.
The Delta Saguenay is owned and managed by Saguenay Limited Partnership, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Vista Hospitality Group and is franchised under the Delta brand. Vista Hospitality Group has owned the property since 2005.
"We are very excited to have our Quebec property join the Delta brand and become one of Saguenay's premier hotels," said Ally Visram, Chief Operating Officer, Vista Hospitality Group. "Mr. Mathieu has been leading this hotel successfully for the past seven years and we are very fortunate to have him as part of our team and as General Manager of the new Delta Saguenay."
