The Dylan Amsterdam Introduces Brasserie OCCO

"Lunch in the City" Two-night Package Features Tasting of New Brasserie Menu

AMSTERDAM - May 16, 2012 - The Dylan, the refined luxury boutique hotel centrally located in Amsterdam's historic “nine streets” of galleries, antique and clothing shops, introduces Brasserie OCCO, an intimate, stylish setting for lunch and dinner with menus highlighting local seasonal ingredients.

As a nod to The Dylan's rich Dutch history, the new brasserie derives its name from Lucas Pompejus Occo who was a Regent of “The Old and Poor People's Office,” one of the most influential Roman Catholic charities in the late 1700s located where the 40-room hotel stands today. New contemporary urban-inspired decor highlighting an ever-changing rotation of Dutch artwork complements the brasserie's historical surroundings to create a relaxed yet vibrant social ambience.

Each Brasserie OCCO dish delivers pure flavors integrating fresh, high quality ingredients. The menu ranges from familiar cuisine such as a Black Angus hamburger with cheddar cheese and bacon to the brasserie's signature “Lunch Plate.” Brasserie OCCO's twist on the traditional Dutch noon break, “Lunch Plate” features a tasting of four small dishes and is served Monday to Friday from noon to 3pm. A sample tasting may include caesar salad with roasted prawns; fresh pasta with pancetta, garlic and parmesan cheese; veal sirloin with asparagus, green peas, crispy potato and black olive sauce; and a terrine of pure chocolate and gingerbread with marinated mango for dessert. Brasserie OCCO is open daily from 11am to 11pm, serving lunch and dinner.

For a taste of the new brasserie, The Dylan is offering a special “Lunch in the City” package that includes two-night accommodations for two, breakfast, a special gift, and “Lunch Plate” in Brasserie OCCO, priced beginning at €735 in May and June, and €655 in July and August, based on double occupancy.

Brasserie OCCO is a casual alternative to The Dylan's Michelin Star restaurant Vinkeles and Vinkeles on the Water, a chef's table concept aboard a fully renovated canal boat. Guests can also enjoy The Dylan's signature “High Wine,” a late afternoon food and wine pairing.

Situated directly on the “Keizersgracht,” one of Amsterdam's most famous and picturesque canals which were declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2010, The Dylan is located in the center of the trendy shopping district “de negen straatjes” (the nine streets) featuring galleries, antique shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Only a stroll away from the city's main attractions, The Dylan makes it easy for guests to discover historic and cultural venues such as the Anne Frank House, Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Stedelijk Museum, and the famous Flower Market, and then return to the intimate atmosphere and personal service of the hotel.
