GOA, India - July 5, 2010 - Summer may be monsoon season in India but it also heralds a good time for deals, especially in Goa. While it may rain a bit each day, usually in the afternoons, it cools the temperatures down. Meanwhile visitors can explore this tropical paradise, take part in vibrant festivals and visit the stunning ensemble of 16th and 17th century colonial churches which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Leela Kempinski Goa, one of this popular destination's top luxury beachfront resorts, is offering a three-night, four-day “Monsoon Getaway” package for two persons with breakfast starting at only $470 (21,600 INR) or about $135 for two per day. Available from July 1 through September 30, the package includes accommodations for two in a Pavilion Room, buffet breakfast in a designated area, and roundtrip transfers from the airport or the train station. Also offered is an “All Meals Monsoon Getaway” for $620 (28,500 INR) which includes buffet breakfasts, buffet lunches and buffet dinners for two in designated areas, a welcome drink, transfers and applicable taxes. And travelers with children get a real deal. A family of four (two children under 5) can stay for three nights for as little as $380 (17,500 INR) in a Conservatory Premier Room. Regular summer rates for a Pavilion Room are $236 (11,000 INR) per night and winter rates start at $645 (30,000 INR.)

Once called the “Pearl of the Orient,” Goa is renowned for its beaches and its beautiful Baroque churches. It is a favored destination for British travelers who come for the balmy breezes and perennial sunny weather.

Set on 75 lushly-landscaped acres between the Arabian Sea and the River Sal in South Goa, The Leela Kempinski Goa was inspired by the temple and palace architecture of south India and by the Portuguese who spent some 450 years in this tropical enclave. The resort's monumental entrance boasts an intricate frieze depicting elephants from the armies of the 14th and 15th century Vijayanagara Empire. A moat with waterfalls and koi surrounds the stone staircase. Seven-feet-tall stone Yalis with regal elephants hold court in the palatial open-air lobby which is supported by 120 hand-carved pillars of pink sandstone from Jaipur. A bronze Shiva stands guard at Jamavar, the Indian restaurant.

Lying on almost two miles of white sandy beach, The Leela, has 186 rooms, suites and villas, several swimming pools, a 12-hole, 3-par golf course, three tennis courts, five restaurants, two lounges, a spa and a fitness center and its own nursery and spice plantation. The Club, an exclusive hotel within the hotel, has private butlers, a lounge for dining, a private pool and its own designated beach area. Guest rooms measure 645 square feet with suites starting at 710 square feet and Club Rooms averaging an impressive 968 square feet. Meetings can be accommodated for up to 400 guests.

There is a 15 percent surcharge for weekends and holidays. Children younger than 5 years of age stay free. Children ages 5 to 14 stay for a minimum of about $22 (1,000 INR) per night with breakfast.
