Kate Simpson Named General Manager at Millennium UN Plaza Hotel
NEW YORK, NY, July 19, 2005. Kate Simpson, a hospitality industry executive with management experience in New York, Miami and Europe, has been named general manager of the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel, one of the flagship properties of Millennium Hotels and Resorts.
In joining the UN Plaza, Simpson has virtually crossed the street, having most recently served as general manager at the Crowne Plaza at the United Nations. Before that she was executive assistant manager at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan.
A native of the United Kingdom, Simpson began her hospitality career at the Royal Garden Hotel in London as banquet manager. In 1994, she joined InterContinental, first as deputy conference and banqueting manager at the Hotel InterContinental London and then on the front office team at the InterContinental Berlin after joining the company's corporate management development program. In 1999, she was transferred to the InterContinental Miami and the following year to Hotel InterContinental The Barclay New York, as director of housekeeping for the 687 room property.
Simpson holds a diploma in Business Administration from Henley Management College's MBA program in England. She graduated from Exeter University, with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, and Westminster College in London, with a graduate diploma in Hotel Management. She is a member of the Hotel and Catering International Management Association (HCIMA) and speaks English, German, French and Spanish.
