Sheraton New Orleans Safe and Sure During Hurricane Season

. October 14, 2008

NEW ORLEANS, LA, June 13, 2006. The Sheraton New Orleans Hotel weathered the aftermath from Hurricane Katrina so well that it acted as a temporary "city hall" hosting press conferences and city-wide meetings for weeks following the storm. The hotel fared better than most hotels in the Crescent City for a number of reasons including a detailed emergency response plan, a positive support staff and adequate provisions to provide for staff and hotel guests for a number of days.

The Sheraton New Orleans Hotel marked the official start of the 2006 hurricane season by announcing additional measures being implemented to ensure the hotel offers the most reliable accommodations to guests visiting New Orleans during hurricane season. "We realize that visitors may be anxious to visit New Orleans during hurricane season so we have gone above and beyond to make sure we are prepared to meet the service and safety expectations of our guests. While our 2005 plan was successfully put to the test, we are confident that our 2006 additions will provide even better information and services should a major storm become an issue," stated General Manager Bill McCreary.

Some of the enhancements being made by The Sheraton New Orleans Hotel include:

o A brand new state-of-the-art radio system.

o Additional generator and fuel source to provide additional power and an expanded back-up power system.

o Hurricane staffing plan comprised of volunteers ensuring a definite number of staff available to keep the hotel operational should a city-wide evacuation be implemented.

Furthermore, the hotel's emergency procedures allot for weather and news updates for guests and staff every thirty minutes via an internal information board. Since both Fox and ABC News have requested to once again be located at The Sheraton as their safe haven during possible future hurricane activity, the information being provided to guests promises to be up-to-the-minute. Finally, should the government call for a mandatory evacuation, the hotel's staff will provide assistance to those guests in need of transportation arrangements, as well as be in a position to provide all guests with the most efficient and reliable evacuation routes.

The Sheraton New Orleans announces this information in its efforts to reassure guests visiting New Orleans during hurricane season that it has taken all necessary steps to ensure their comfort and safety should a hurricane threaten the city. With that being said, The Sheraton New Orleans encourages those considering a trip to the city to take advantage of its special summer rates by calling #1.888.627.7033. "By visiting New Orleans this summer people have the opportunity to not only experience the city's unique food, music and history, they also have the opportunity to support the re-building of one of America's oldest municipalities," remarked Tommy Morel, Area Director of Sales and Marketing.

National hurricane season runs annually from June 1 through the month of November.
