True North Opens New Lebanon, NH Courtyard by Marriott
OVERLAND PARK, KS, November 30, 2006. When True North Hotel Group opened its managed, 124-room Courtyard by Marriott in Lebanon, N.H. on Nov. 8, the state's Upper Valley acquired much more than a quality hotel and seven state-of-the-art meeting rooms. The area also welcomed a new community contributor whose philanthropic management company and owners are as passionate about "doing good" as they are about doing well.
Lew Wiens, president of True North Hotel Group, has long encouraged the company's hotels to contribute to their communities, a philosophy he personalizes through his own family philanthropy. The hotel's general partner, Norwich Partners, has through its principals committed to taking a portion of hotel revenues to fund a $1 million commitment to the Children's Fund of the Upper Valley over the next ten years. The Fund, established by Norwich principals, supports projects and organizations that improve the lives of children in the local community through quality healthcare, child care, arts and educational initiatives.
Serving as general manager of the new Courtyard by Marriott is John Harding, a 20-year hospitality industry veteran, who has opened six hotels, including three for Marriott.
The new hotel features seven state-of-the-art meeting rooms; shuttle service on demand; free wireless data connection; a full kitchen to accommodate conference groups; a business library featuring individual workstations with high-speed data ports and ergonomic chairs; a pantry-style, 24-hour "grab and go" food and beverage area called The Market; the Courtyard Cafe restaurant, serving breakfast; a bar serving light snacks and an indoor swimming pool with whirlpool spa and exercise room.
Courtyard guest rooms feature either a king-size bed or two queen-size beds, a seating area with sofa bed or oversized chair, a large, well-lit work desk and two telephones equipped with data ports. Other in-room amenities include coffee maker, hair dryer, iron with ironing board, and digital cable television with a free premium movie channel. The Lebanon Courtyard also features five suites with a king-size bed, refrigerator and microwave oven. True North Hotel Group manages 11 select-service and extended-stay hotels in five states. Brands under True North's umbrella include Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, Courtyard, and Fairfield Inn by Marriott; and Hampton Inn and Hampton Inn & Suites.
