NEW YORK, NY, November 13, 2006. A newly constructed 33,000-square-foot state-of-the-art spa, salon and fitness facility has recently opened at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in central New York.

Skan'a's gentle treatments use natural products combined with unparalleled service to promote inner peace and harmony-thus the name Skan'a, the Oneida word for "Peace."

Skan'a Spa is nestled in the Mohawk Valley Region of New York State, 30 miles east of Syracuse. According to Michael Tompkins, Turning Stone's Vice President of Hotel and Spa Operations, "Skan'a Spa is a sanctuary where soothing treatments and modern amenities combine with ancient American Indian healing traditions to create the world's most luxuriously unique spa experience.

"Skan'a Spa offers all the healthy living amenities and services of a destination spa, with the added appeal of three championship golf courses, a casino, showroom and 5,000-seat entertainment complex featuring top performing artists. There is something for everybody at Turning Stone, including spa enthusiasts," added Tompkins.

The spacious Skan'a Spa facility features 12 treatment rooms for massage, body and skincare treatments, including one private VIP Spa Suite and a Couple's Suite. Private men's and women's locker rooms feature steam and sauna rooms, a mineral whirlpool, fully-stocked vanities with Molton Brown amenities, showers with individual changing areas, plus comfortable relaxation lounges, featuring a beverage bar and fireplace. A full-service salon offers hair, nail and make-up services.

Karen Watson, Skan'a's spa manager has created a spa treatment menu with a myriad of unique therapeutic massages and bodywork, as well as skincare treatments. Based on the benefits of time-honored herbal earth remedies and water therapies-as confirmed by modern research-with today's technological advances in skincare and bodywork, Skan'a's treatment menu offers a truly rejuvenating experience that promotes good health and brings mind and spirit in perfect harmony.

"The foundation for our treatments is the use of nature's healing herbs, leaves and flowers, complemented by the finest skincare products available today," said Watson.

A state-of-the-art 10,000-square-foot Fitness Center is also a feature of Skan'a, with an indoor pool for laps and aquatic classes, cardiovascular training machines, plus an exercise studio with special cushioned flooring for daily group and private fitness and relaxation classes for all fitness levels. Outdoor activities include scenic sunrise walks and daily yoga and Tai Chi classes on the property. In winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are led by skilled staff members. The property also features three championship golf courses (Turning Stone was recently selected to host the opening round of the PGA Tour's 2007 Fall Series) and a weather-resistant year-round Golf Training Center staffed by PGA teaching professionals.

One of the most unique features at Skan'a Spa is its traditional American Indian Sweat Lodge. Guests have the opportunity to experience a Sweat Lodge ceremony held in an authentic sweat lodge with a traditional fire pit. Skan'a Spa's Sweat Lodge experience features storytelling, drumming, chants and prayers that have been used for centuries as a way of spiritually cleansing body and soul.

Based on the principles of Peace, Balance and Harmony, Skan'a embraces the Oneida Indian Nation's welcoming spirit and their custom of sharing friendship and peace, along with the balance of good health, harmony with nature, and tranquility within. Natural woods, stone, trickling water, fireplaces and authentic American Indian artwork inspire an atmosphere of natural calm, where guests feel nurtured, rested and renewed.

Guests visiting Skan'a Spa stay at The Lodge at Turning Stone, a 94-suite AAA Four-Diamond award-winning luxury boutique hotel attached to the spa. Guests enjoy healthy dining at the Skan'a Spa Caf'e, which features fresh and healthy gourmet cuisine for breakfast and lunch. The elegant Wildflowers Restaurant, located in The Lodge at Turning Stone and considered perhaps the finest restaurant between New York and Chicago, serves Continental cuisine with a contemporary flair and is open for lunch and dinner.

Skan'a Spa is co-ed with treatments and activities for men, women and children at least 17 years of age. Open year round, the facility is smoke-free, alcohol-free and cell phone-free. Located in Verona, New York, Skan'a is just 25 minutes from Syracuse Hancock International Airport and 90 minutes from Albany International Airport. It is a 45-minute flight or four-hour drive from New York City. The nearby Oneida County Airport accommodates private jets and helicopters.
