Nigel Badminton Takes Over as Hotel Manager of The New York Palace

Recent Addition to the Dorchester Collection

SEPTEMBER 12, 2008. The London-based Dorchester Collection is pleased to announce that Nigel Badminton, Deputy General Manager of The Dorchester will be taking over as Hotel Manager of The New York Palace, which recently joined Dorchester Collection.

Following a successful career as Deputy General Manager at The Dorchester, where he was responsible for the general operation of the hotel in addition to acting as Deputy to Christopher Cowdray, General Manager, Badminton is keen to take on the new challenges presented by The New York Palace. He will be instrumental in assisting Managing Director, Niklaus Leuenberger, in the planned transformation of the property into one of New York's most luxurious hotels.

Located on Madison Avenue, The New York Palace is famed for its Michelin-star restaurant, Gilt, and stunning bar attracting Manhattan's finest. Extensive refurbishment will take place over the next 3 years and will include a total redesign of the public areas and guest rooms.

Badminton studied Hotel Management at the Hotel School of South Africa in Johannesburg. He recently attended the Business Leaders Programme at Cranfield University's School of Management and the Leadership Development programme at the Centre for Creative Leadership. After working for The Mount Nelson Hotel in South Africa, and Intercontinental Hotels, Gleneagles Hotels and Chester Grosvenor Hotel in the UK, he joined The Dorchester in 1990 as Rooms Division Manager when the hotel was closed for refurbishment. As part of the re-opening management team he played a role in re-establishing The Dorchester as London's premier hotel. He was promoted to the position of Deputy General Manager in 1996 and, amongst other duties, has been responsible for co-ordinating and overseeing many State and Official visits.
