Clayton on the Park Hotel has a VIPET Program for Travelers with Pets

. October 14, 2008

ST LOUIS, MO, October 4, 2005. Clayton on the Park, a luxury hotel and residence in Clayton, just outside of St. Louis, MO, is going all out this fall and winter to lure traveling pet owners to stay at the hotel and take advantage of its VIPet Program.

"I wouldn't say we're going to the dogs but I will say we're actively courting pet owners who travel with their pets," said General Manager Micarl Hill. "More people are traveling with their pets and looking for pet-friendly hotels. In the past, a number of our hotel guests have brought dogs with them and they've been well-traveled pets. Other hotel guests and our apartment residents, a number of which have dogs, get a genuine kick out of seeing dogs parading through our lobby either going out for or coming back from walks. It seems to reinforce the residential feel of Clayton on the Park."

Hill, a dedicated dog lover and owner of a boxer, has set up a program whereby pet owners who make reservations for themselves and their pets can be assured they will get the VIPet treatment when they check in at the 109 suite high-rise hotel.

Waiting for them in their suite will be a "pet mat" upon which the lucky pet will find two raised aluminum bowls - one of water with a sprig of mint and other of pet food, a large edible "bone" from Three Dog Bakery inscribed with the pet's name, a chewable doggie newspaper, and a personal welcome note from Hill.

"On top of that, the pet owners can rest assured that our staff knows how to treat pets," adds Hill. "Our concierge staff is comfortable fielding requests about pets' needs and even has pet menus on hand from Three Dog Bakery and directions to the Dog Museum, and our bell staff are experienced hands at walking high-rise pets across the street in Shaw Park. I even bring my pet boxer into the office on occasion."

Clayton on the Park promotes the hotel's VIPet Program through a variety of sources to which pet owners turn to for lodging information, including Internet sites for those who travel with their pets.

The 23-story luxury residential high-rise located at the intersection of Bonhomme Avenue and Brentwood Boulevard in Clayton, is central to all of the St. Louis area's visitor attractions, and is designed to accommodate both the business and leisure travelers and long-term stay guests. It's a new concept in cosmopolitan living that is popular in other major cities.
