Washington, DC's The Embassy Row Hotel Begins Phase One of a $15-Million Dollar Renovation

. April 07, 2014

Washington, DC - April 7, 2014 - Once a prime spot for politicians and influencers in Washington, D.C. in the 1970's, The Embassy Row Hotel, by Destination Hotels & Resorts, embarks on a $15-million renovation. This week, the hotel launches phase one in the multi-million dollar renovation, which will transform the hotel's rooftop terrace and pool - in time for summer.

The Embassy Row Hotel offers the only outdoor rooftop terrace in Dupont Circle with astonishing views of the city, including a picturesque view of the Washington Monument. The rooftop terrace and pool, located on the 9th floor, will be completely renovated in less than three months. The outdoor atmosphere will offer an engaging, social experience, enhanced by teak plush seating, modern landscape architecture and the addition of food and beverage service, making it ideal for private events. Expected completion of the rooftop terrace and pool is June 2014.

"The Embassy Row Hotel has always enjoyed its premier location in Dupont Circle. The new rooftop terrace and pool will reflect our urban location, creativity, innovation and international culture," said Shawn Jervis, general manager of The Embassy Row Hotel. "Our team is excited to continue to unveil the hotel's new engaging, social spaces and provide a timeless experience for our guests and the community."

In phase two, the hotel renovations of all nine floors and 231 guest rooms will include a new redesigned lobby, a social bar, grab-n-go barista station, new meeting space, and a new fitness studio. Decor in the guest rooms and common areas will reflect its Washington, D.C. origin, re-styled with a whimsical modern inspired design. The lobby bar will open up to outdoor seating overlooking Embassy Row and feature light bites, unique drinks, and outlets for connected visitors.

"Our goal is to be the neighborhood gathering place for global thinkers," Jervis said. "Staying true to D.C. and the city's authenticity is important to us - and that's the experience we want to deliver to every guest and local."

A seasonally-timed renovation for phase two will allow the hotel to remain open during the renovations, which are expected to be complete in March 2015. For regular updates, please visit www.embassyrowhotel.com or call (202) 265-1600.
