Mintek Ranked Among Top 500 Global Software Companies

Software Magazine's Ranking Based on 2005 revenues

DUNEDIN, FL, October 25, 2006. For the second consecutive year, Mintek Mobile Data Solutions, a leading provider of turn-key, mobile data solutions, ranks among the top 500 global software and services providers based on 2005 revenues, according to the October issue of Software Magazine.

"We are excited to be included again on this prestigious list," says Lind Hutton, Executive Vice President and C.O.O. of Dunedin, Fla.-based Mintek. "We have experienced tremendous growth since launching our business in 1987. That growth has been driven by our focus on understanding the business challenges of our customers and developing unique solutions that meet their needs."

The Software 500 is a ranking of the world's largest software and services suppliers targeting medium to large enterprises, their IT professionals, software developers and business managers involved in software and services purchasing. The list includes both public and private companies. Revenue totals include software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services, and consulting.

Since publication of last year's list, Mintek has added important new customers in the lodging and cable industries, and also has entered a new vertical with the introduction of its WinTrack PM for City Utilities.

Loews Deal Highlights Lodging Growth

In lodging, Mintek continues to build on the success of its dynamic Lodging Asset Management Suite, a set of planning tools that provide for management oversight and notification. The Suite includes WinTrack PM, Asset Director, Maintenance Portal, Work Order Kiosk and Alerts. Mintek's lodging solutions have been implemented in almost 300 hotels.

"Tracking, maintaining and managing any lodging asset is easily done through a powerful solution that combines handheld devices, bar coding and Internet capability," Hutton says. "The result is lower equipment and labor costs, improved asset capital planning and an enhanced guest experience."

Earlier this year, Mintek finalized an agreement with Loews Hotels that resulted in its WinTrack PM system being implemented in the New York-based company's 17 hotels.

"Loew Hotels already is benefiting from WinTrack PM," Hutton says. "It has enabled their engineers to more efficiently schedule, monitor and analyze preventive maintenance, perform rounds and capture readings."

In the cable industry, Mintek's focus remains on growing SETS (Subscriber Equipment Tracking System), Sales Force Automation (SFA) and Tap Audit. Each provides universal billing system access and incorporates handhelds and bar coding. SETS streamlines the customer premise equipment (CPE) tracking, reconciliation and data entry processes. SFA adds efficiencies to the cable service sales process-from building route lists to printing customer receipts. Tap Audit is an easy-to-use security system for generating passing lists, capturing unauthorized connections and household voids.

Since publication of last year's Software 500, Mintek announced the 700th installation of SETS, unveiled an enhanced version of Tap Audit, and announced agreements with Comcast Corp. and Time Warner Cable.

Mintek Enters Utilities Sector

In July, Mintek announced the release of WinTrack PM for City Utilities. Just like its other PM systems, WinTrack PM for City Utilities incorporates handhelds and bar coding to ensure that scheduled PM gets done

"WinTrack PM for City Utilities is ideal for water and wastewater departments, or any other area where government-owned capital equipment needs to be maintained," Hutton says. "What separates WinTrack PM from other systems on the market is its affordability. It is an inexpensive, modular package ideal for small to midsize cities. It is easy to learn, can be up and running quickly and requires minimal IT department support."

Mintek's PM system helps make maintenance personnel more productive (approximately an hour a day more) and gives managers the data they need to better allocate work loads. It can be customized to fit any type of community utility department.

"Increasingly, utilities are expanding facilities because of growing population but not adding staff," Hutton says. "WinTrack PM helps make workers more efficient so that they can get more done in less time."

The water and wastewater departments in Plant City, Fla., have implemented WinTrack PM for City Utilities. It enables the maintenance team there to keep each of the 10-million-gallon-capacity departments running free of breakdowns.

Company to Continue Research

Hutton says Mintek will continue to invest research dollars in pursuit of advanced, automated solutions for its lodging, cable and utilities customers.

"Our plan is to continue to grow in the industries in which we have a strong presence, and continue to offer our customers cutting edge technology and products," he says. "We will continue to pursue our vision of providing 'access to information from anywhere' by using Internet, wireless, GPS, RFID and other technologies. With the continued support of our customers and hard-working employees, we expect to continue to be leaders in the cable, lodging and utilities sectors while at the same time exploring opportunities in other industries."
