Here are seven cool activities in and around Redding this summer:
1) Redding Beer Week - August 18-26
Toast to your impeccable taste with a celebration of craft breweries and the local establishments who serve them. Redding Beer Week kicks off with the official opening ceremony on Aug. 18, where you can sample 40-plus craft brews all under one roof. The following nine days consist of signature events at local establishments throughout the city.
2) Waterworks Park
Just five minutes from most Redding-area lodging properties, visitors will find the coolest place in Redding: Waterworks Park. Enjoy giant waterslides, the Raging River Run, the Avalanche Slide, wet and wild volleyball in the large activity pool, or just relax in one of many cool, shaded areas. Or, learn a new skill and experience the lake from a fresh perspective with an introduction to standup paddleboarding. Both encourage healthy activity on the pristine Whiskeytown Lake.

6) Whiskeytown Star Parties
Experience the splendor of the dark night sky! Or spend the evening with a Sky Ranger at the Oak Bottom Amphitheater and learn about how ancient cultures used the sky to navigate and mark important seasonal changes.
7) Lassen's Dark Sky Festival Join park rangers, astronomers, and astrobiologists in celebrating all that is out of this world during Lassen's Volcanic National Park's Dark Sky Festival Aug. 11-13. Special programs, presentations, hikes, and Junior Ranger Night Explorer activities will be offered during the festival.
