ST. MORITZ, SZ. May 10, 2017 - After 14 years, The Carlton Hotel St. Moritz will have a new General Manager.

In the autumn, Philippe D. Clarinval will take over Tschuggen Hotel Group's five-star hotel in the Engadine.

Mr Clarinval, originally from Central Switzerland, will succeed Laurence and Dominic Bachofen, who are leaving the company to pursue a non-corporate project.

“Taking over the management of this five-star hotel rich in history yet still modern, is a great honor. I am delighted to have the opportunity of playing a part in its future development”, explains the 42-year-old, excitedly anticipating this next phase in his already illustrious tourism career.

Following completion of his MBA degree in hotel management, Mr Clarinval has worked around the world. After holding several management positions in Europe, the USA and Asia, he then served as Resident Manager of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts in Indonesia and Malaysia. Following that appointment, he spent seven years as Managing Director of the five-star Omnia Mountain Lodge luxury hotel in Zermatt, which he transformed into one of Switzerland's leading hotels.

The multilingual Swiss-Belgian citizen is also President of the AlpAdria Chapter of the Cornell Hotel Society and a member of the European Hotel Managers Association.

Over A Century of Excellence at The Carlton Hotel St. Moritz

The Carlton Hotel opened during the Christmas season of 1913 and was the fifth luxury hotel in St. Moritz in the Engadine region. It experienced a golden age during the 1930s with guests arriving from around the world. In 2007, the Kipp-Bechtolsheimer family, owners of the hotel, succeeded in bringing back the glamour and charm of this era following a complete renovation that lasted 18 months. Today, the Carlton Hotel is among the most spectacular hotels in Switzerland with its fantastic location at over 6500 feet above sea level and the breathtaking views out across Lake St. Moritz. Combining historical and modern elements and incorporating elaborate details, interior designer Carlo Rampazzi succeeded in creating a 5-Star atmosphere that transcends time. Most recently, the Carlton was named Switzerland's Leading Hotel 2016. Further information can be found at www.carlton-stmoritz.ch
