Olympia Hotel Management to Manage New Hyatt Place & Hyatt House Quad Cities

. May 09, 2017

PORTLAND, ME. May 9, 2017 - Olympia Hotel Management has been selected to manage Hyatt Place & Hyatt House Quad Cities in East Moline, Illinois. This showcase hotel project features two distinctive hotels: a 134-room Hyatt Place hotel and 99-room Hyatt House hotel.

The hotels are part of The Bend on the Mighty Mississippi, a master-planned mixed-use development on a former industrial site located along the Mississippi River that brings retail, lodging, restaurants, apartments, offices and other amenities to a 132-acre site with a mile of unobstructed riverfront. The $40 million hotel project is part of an $80 million mixed-use development planned by Great River Property Development in the Quad Cities region of northwest Illinois and southeastern Iowa. Designed by Legat Architects and managed by Olympia Hotel Management, the hotels will bring the Quad Cities a modern upscale lodging option.

Olympia recently received Hyatt's annual award for Operating Excellence and collaborated with Hyatt and Legat on two Hyatt Place hotels: Hyatt Place Chicago-South/University Medical Center and Hyatt Place Cleveland/Westlake/Crocker Park.

"We are thrilled to continue building upon a strong relationship with Olympia Hotel Management on another great project," said Mark Younadam Vice President of Real Estate and Development for Hyatt. "We continue to see a growing trend with dual-brand hotels, which lets guests choose the right setting for their needs. Whether our guests are in town for vacation, work relocation or long-term corporate projects, Hyatt Place and Hyatt House Quad Cities will be the perfect fit for the vibrant setting of this highly-anticipated development."

The nine-story hotel will be the Quad Cities' tallest structure and marks the first Hyatt dual-branded hotels in the Quad Cities region. The hotels will offer guests two different hotel experiences under one roof: Hyatt Place for nightly stays and Hyatt House for extended stays. Hotel amenities include a full service restaurant, meeting facilities and a signature rooftop lounge. The layout is unique for Hyatt, with a large single lobby serving the guests of both hotels, with plenty of space to have the kind of shared social experience that so many travelers desire today.

Guests will have access to the Great River Trail directly from the hotels and can witness an impressive display of bald eagles in their natural habitat. In addition to serving visitors to John Deere and Company's international headquarters, the project will provide accommodations for such companies as Kone, Alcoa, Group O Companies, The Sedona Group and Von Maur. It will also serve the needs of two nearby higher education institutions, Augustana College and Western Illinois University's Quad Cities campus. The hotels are scheduled to open in spring 2018.

“We're excited to partner with Legat Architects and Hyatt Hotels once again,” said John Schultzel, Vice President, Hotel Management for The Olympia Companies. “This is another terrific opportunity for Olympia to play an active role in a transformative project, this time in the Quad Cities.”
