CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. May 1, 2017 - Today, Quirk Hotel, Richmond, Virginia's boutique, design driven property, announced plans for expansion into neighboring Charlottesville. As Charlottesville continues to evolve and flourish, the new Quirk property will fill a growing demand in the historic city and allow guests an opportunity to experience the Southern charm and bright ambience currently available to visitors and residents of Richmond.

Most known for transforming a historic J.B. Mosby & Co. department store into the original Quirk Hotel, owners Ted and Katie Ukrop will combine inspiration and passion from the Richmond location with the culture and creativity of the new Charlottesville home for a unique and welcoming concept. The Ukrops also bring a strong love of art, and passion for the fast-growing tertiary markets, which they will showcase through local artists, designers, and experiences in the new hotel.

“We are very pleased, that after hard work and dedication, we are able to bring the Quirk inspiration to a new market,” said Ted Ukrop, owner of Quirk Hotel. “Charlottesville is a wonderful town with wonderful people, and we hope Quirk Charlottesville will become a home away from home for Charlottesville visitors, and a place to drink, dine, and relax for residents.”

Quirk Charlottesville will be located at 501 West Main Street, in the heart of downtown just steps from the Downtown Mall. While design plans are still being finalized, the Ukrops look to incorporate the two historic buildings that are currently on the property directly into the 78-room hotel design. The property will include a 360-degree rooftop bar, meeting space, and banquet space. Quirk Charlottesville will also bring renowned chef David Dunlap from Richmond's Maple & Pine to develop and execute the menu at the hotel's on-site restaurant.

Construction on the new property is scheduled to begin in early 2018, with an opening date to be set for mid-2019.

The original Quirk Hotel opened in an Italian Renaissance building located in the heart of Richmond's art district in September 2015 as the city's first-ever, design-driven boutique lodging option. The 74-room hotel, whose design focuses on capturing the building's original purpose by honoring its history through architectural elements, quickly became a gathering place for both locals and Richmond visitors to immerse themselves within Richmond and experience the city's eccentric, trendy and exciting art scene. Inspired by nearby Quirk Gallery, Quirk Hotel's DNA stems from an unexpected twist of sophistication and humor, with equal parts Southern cordiality and Richmond pride.
