Portugal's Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa Hotel Set to Reopen Following $16 Million Renovation

LISBON, PT. March 22, 2017 - In April 2017, a new chapter in the history of the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa Hotel will begin following an extensive 15 million Euro (approximately $16 million++ USD) renovation. The Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa Hotel is one of the most prestigious hotels in the Portuguese capital and has been the indisputable choice among celebrities, business leaders and heads of state for more than 80 years.

Located on the main and most celebrated avenue in the city, Avenida da Liberdade, the hotel will have an expansive, grand new lobby, a new executive lounge, five floors of remodeled rooms, new wine and dining experiences, a ground-breaking spa bearing the Tivoli name and and a new fitness center. The architecture and decoration focus on the elegant, classical and contemporary, where the past and the present merge naturally - the essence of the Tivoli brand.

A Meeting Point in the Center of Lisbon: The Lobby

The cosmopolitan and elegant lobby, a place where leading figures from the worlds of politics, business and art can often be seen, is being completely remodeled. With an eye-catching new glass dome, this iconic space now has even more light and is complemented by a palette of glamorous and sophisticated, cool colors that perfectly match the outside environment. Inspiration has been drawn from French Boulevards, with their flowing fountains, open terraces and paving decorated with patterns from the Pombaline period of Portuguese architecture.

There will also be a new and aptly named Lobby Bar – with a casual feel, it will be ideal for a work meeting or getting together with friends for a chat accompanied by delicious tapas, tasty sandwiches, gourmet snacks and a premium tea service or perhaps a glass of wine.

The Total Luxury of the New Deluxe Rooms and Suites

Guest rooms at the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa Hotel have been reduced in number from 306 to 286 in order to provide guests with more space and comfort and to exceed the standards made famous by Tivoli over the last eight decades. In addition, a new category of rooms, Family Rooms, will be able to accommodate a family of four in total comfort and with all the convenience a family needs.

Exclusive and welcoming, the Suites at the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Lisboa Hotel have a new premium service for guests, with an exclusive team to organize one’s stay and attend to every need when one is in residence at the hotel. Included in the services offered are complimentary transfers between the hotel and the airport plus curbside check in and check-out. All the suites will have Bulgari and Hermès amenities, as well as a 24/7 butler service.

Unique Events in a Special Setting

The Conference and Events Center, the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade Palacete, is the clear choice for one’s conference, event or business meeting needs. The Palacete and the hotel provide clients with a choice of 16 exceptional meeting rooms along with a dedicated team of specialists to help ensure that events go smoothly. In addition, state-of-the-art equipment, extensive food & beverage options and the hotel’s prime location have made the property a top choice among meeting and event planners for more than 80 years.

Exciting Dining

The Tivoli Avenida Liberdade will also have some special developments when it comes to dining. Two new spaces will be offering exciting food experiences: A new, upscale pub is planned for the ground floor - the Cervejaria Liberdade – which will feature Portugal’s best brews as well fresh fish, seafood, sushi and ceviche. A highlight in this relaxing and cosmopolitan atmosphere is the central bar, where you can enjoy a quick meal or try a traditional Portuguese-style seafood feast. The Cervejaria Liberdade will be open every day from 12:30 pm to midnight.

On the 9th floor, with stunning views of the city skyline, the iconic Terraço Restaurant is being renovated and will be serving new signature cuisine. Chef Tiago Bonito – Portugal’s Kitchen Chef of the Year 2011, will helm the restaurant. The new menu is inspired by the best in Portuguese meat, fish and produce, all accompanied by an expert selection of Portuguese wines. The Terraço continues to hold sway as a leader in Lisbon fine dining.

Widely recognized among Lisbon locals as “the place to see and be seen”, the Sky Bar reopens in spring and there'll be lots of new experiences in store. This rooftop bar boasts the best views in town and a very cosmopolitan clientèle. If you enjoy a sundowner – with friends or in the company of that special someone – then the late afternoon colors, the castle on the horizon, plus sounds from our resident DJ mean the perfect end to your day. This season the focus is on unique and innovative cocktails which are sure to surprise.

In the hotter months, guests can also choose to relax next to the outdoor swimming pool set in a lush tropical garden. An atmosphere of tranquillity and sophistication to slow down time and let you forget the world outside. Only the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade can offer this unique experience in the centre of the city, making it the perfect haven whether you're travelling on business or for leisure.

Coming Up In The May Online Hotel Business Review

Feature Focus
Eco-Friendly Practices: The Value of Sustainability
The hotel industry continues to make remarkable progress in implementing sustainability policies and procedures in their properties throughout the world. As a result, they continue to reap the benefits of increased profitability, enhanced guest experiences, and improved community relations. In addition, as industry standards are codified and adopted worldwide, hotels can now compare how their operations measure up against their competitors in terms of sustainable practices and accomplishments. This capacity to publicly compare and contrast is spurring competition and driving innovation as hotels do not wish to be left behind in this area. Water management and conservation is still a primary issue as population growth, urbanization, pollution and wasteful consumption patterns place increasing demands on freshwater supply. Water recycling; installing low-flow fixtures; using digital sensors to control water usage; and even harvesting rainwater are just a few things that some hotels are doing to preserve this precious resource. Waste management is another major concern. Through policies of reduce, reuse and recycle, some hotels are implementing “zero-waste” programs with the goal of substantially reducing their landfill waste which produces carbon dioxide and methane gases. Other hotels have established comprehensive training programs that reinforce the value of sustainability. There is employee engagement through posters and quizzes, and even contests are held to increase innovation, sensitivity and environmental awareness. Some hotels are also monitoring a guest’s energy usage and rewarding those who consumed less energy with gifts and incentives. The May issue of the Hotel Business Review will document how some hotels are integrating eco-friendly practices into their operations and how they and the environment are benefiting from them.
