Fortuna Realty Group Set to Launch Hotel Hayden, the First of Two Boutique Conversions in New York's Chelsea Neighborhood

. January 31, 2017

NEW YORK, N.Y. January 31, 2017 - Following the success of Hotel Hugo in SoHo, Fortuna Realty Group is unveiling the first of two boutique conversions of existing properties in New York's Chelsea neighborhood with the opening of Hotel Hayden on 28th Street and 6th Avenue. Officially launching on February 1, 2017, the hotel becomes the first lifestyle-driven, boutique property to open on this block in the Flower District, offering a rooftop lounge, a new restaurant, refreshed guest rooms, and unique meeting spaces for visitors and local creative, fashion, and tech agencies that, until now, were competing for space in crowded boutique hotels in the NoMad area. Hotel Hayden's sister property, Hotel Henri will open in March.

“Our vision for Hotel Hayden was to create a revitalized hotel option that speaks to the demands and desires of those that want a true NYC experience on 28th Street and 6th Avenue,” said Morris Moinian, principal and founder of Fortuna Realty Group. “With New York City in the midst of a hotel boom, we saw an opportunity to stand out by bringing something unique and life-style focused to an untapped street in one of the city's most iconic neighborhoods.”

The Hotel Hayden Experience

Nestled in northern Chelsea, the new Hotel Hayden feeds on the energy of two of New York City's most enduring and iconic commercial neighborhoods. At the intersection of the Fashion District and the Flower District, it's a modern boutique gem just steps from world-famous local landmarks, including the Empire State Building, The Fashion Institute of Technology and Madison Square Garden.

“Hotel Hayden is at the center of one of Manhattan's emerging creative districts, and was created to appeal to this distinct audience in New York City,” said Lisa Grossberg, General Manager for Hotel Hayden. “We know that locals and visitors are more focused on experiences than ever before and think Hayden, with its rooftop, restaurant, and upcoming programming, will be a welcome new addition to New York's hotel scene.”

Paying tribute to the surrounding iconic Flower District neighborhood, the 122-room Hotel Hayden features living walls that line the building's exterior, border the reception desk in the bright, Carrera marble-clad lobby, and are installed within the on-site, full-service restaurant. Elevators whisk guests up to hallways that feature abstract murals of New York City and plush carpeting.

Accommodations consist of Double and King guest rooms, as well as King suites with skyline or street views, starting at $199 per night. Contemporary guest rooms feature beds backed by bright, color-blocked headboards; spa-style bathrooms; working stations with desks; and 43” HDTVs. In-room amenities include waffle-knit robes and slippers, a specially curated mini bar of snacks and beverages, Keurig coffee machine with coffee and tea K-cups, and Argon toiletries.

Other features and amenities include in-room dining, a complimentary on-site fitness studio, and complimentary business center, valet and self-parking, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi internet throughout the hotel. Hotel Hayden is also a pet-friendly hotel.

Food & Beverage

Housed inside Hotel Hayden is a brand new Greek restaurant, Mykonos Blue, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as on-site catering and room service. Mykonos Blue is an extension of the Ethos restaurant empire — Kyma, Ethos, and Pathos — and the first of Yiannis Chatiris' venues to feature a rooftop.

“Mykonos Blue will embody the ambiance of the Greek islands, from the food to the restaurant's design, providing an ethnic dining experience that will stir memories of past vacations to Greece,” said Yiannis Chatiris, owner of Mykonos Blue. “Whether it's the international business or leisure traveler, or the incredibly loyal neighbors in this ever-evolving neighborhood, there is something for everyone to savor.”

Diners will be transported to the Aegean through a menu focused on fresh seafood and traditional Greek dishes. A variety of meze are highlighted under “Starters,” including Garides Saganaki (jumbo shrimp) in fresh tomato sauce, melted Greek feta cheese, and organic herbs; Octapadi Sharas (grilled octopus) with onions, capers, fava puree, lemon and herbs; and Pikilia, featuring a selection of spreads like Tzatziki, Tarama, Spicy Feta, and Melitzanosalata (eggplant). Rounding out the menu are specialty entrees like Lavraki (whole bronzini); Souvlaki; and Moussakas, with layers of satueed ground meat, eggplant, and potatoes, topped with bechamel sauce.

The restaurant's craft bar program features a menu of signature cocktails, traditional Greek spirits, and a wine list of nearly 80 Greek wines features a number of different varietals from familiar, as well as lesser-known producers.

Anchored by a display of fresh seafood, a woven rope curtain that separates the bar from the dining area, and a mural of the stunning Mykonos scenery, the restaurant's bright, airy design is reminiscent of sitting seaside in the Greek isles. Mykonos Blue will also feature outdoor seating, with tables that look out to the surrounding Flower District and are enclosed by lush greenery and living walls.

Hayden's Rooftop

Opening late-February, Hayden's Rooftop will offer an energetic post-dinner scene for New Yorkers and visitors alike. The bar and lounge offer a unique, year-round rooftop experience complete with signature cocktails and impeccable views. An under-the-radar oasis in the Chelsea neighborhood, Hayden's Rooftop will be the perfect hotspot for after-work drinks, as well as parties and events of all kinds.

The rooftop will also feature a menu of small plates and appetizers, a forthcoming late night menu of Greek street food, and a curated drink menu featuring cocktails made with Greek spirits like Ouzo and Mastika.

Meetings and Events

Offering 400 square feet of versatile meeting space accommodating up to 40 guests, Hotel Hayden is Chelsea's go-to place for business meetings, corporate retreats and social gatherings including rehearsal dinners and birthday celebrations. Business and leisure dinners and parties can be hosted in a range of unique spaces including Hotel Hayden's meeting room, Mykonos Blue, Hayden's Rooftop and the rooftop's private outdoor alcove. In addition, Hotel Hayden offers onsite catering and a team of experienced event planners to create an event suited to any style or budget.
